Stabilization ending LD'S

I have ran into a bit of a problem recently, the problem is not attaining lucidity because for the past 3 weeks I've had at least 1 each week. The problem is, in my most recent LD's, stabilization seems to end the LD for no reason at all. I had a LD this morning where I wanted to start flying but instead i stopped what I was doing, looked around, touched the fence beside me and started doing RC's but the dream still lost itself, first visually. I remember right after I was lying in a different bed so it was a FA but when I realized that, I actually did wake up. In my longest WILD to date, all i did was spin around and it was enough to keep me lucid for the next 8-10 minutes but then when I tried spinning again, I think I closed my eyes very slightly and still woke up in my bed.
Anyone else experience this, and know how to get over it?

Im having the same problem, ive done the spinning around technique that just wakes me up.
rubbing my hands together works for a relatively short period of time

i do remain calm within my dream, i think my lack of confidence in my own ability to stay in a lucid dream once i'm in one doesn't help

Although it's odd since the amount of control i have over my lucid seems to be an extreme amount.

Yea, I'm always much more calm than I expect myself to be, which is surprising, so it is not my excitement that is bringing me out of the LD. Its just when I tried stabilizing and sometimes even when I spin around the dream seems to end which is VERY annoying, because I keep reading on DV that you should stabilize etc. to keep from losing the dream but the opposite keeps happening to me. :panic:

Yeah, tbh i think maybe stabalizing by getting your senses into the dream like i heard a really good one is to lick the floor, then also at the same time mantra "this is my dream i am in control and it will end when i say" sort of thing.

Yea, i will try those, anyone else have any input, anyone who has overcome this or anything, both of us kinda need some help with this cuz all my LD's recently have been very short, even though with experience they should be getting longer, but they aren't.

I'm having the same problem lol. I don't think there's any easy answer but to just keep practising. I find what brings me out of them is I think about my self lying in bed.

But what I find strange is that in neither of these last few LD's of mine have I even thought about my body lying in bed, at least consciously. I'm always focused on both what I want to accomplish and stabilizing the dream when I first become lucid, I'm glad that there are others with the same problem and I hope someone can help us all.

Don't stabilize them? Forget stopping and grounding yourself for now and just immediately go do what you want to do. Try stabilizing again in a month or so and maybe the problem will have fixed itself.

If you just start making a beeline for stabilization and focus only on that, it could destabilize the dream because your attention isn't on the rest of the dream too. Try being a little more mindful of your surroundings as you go about touching objects and stabilizing. Try using more than one sense at once, too. :)

aLRIGHT so you guys are saying instead of completely stopping everything that I am doing to stabilize, I should just do what I wanted to do in the LD but sort of stabilize as I go on? There might be something to that because I have noticed the LD I have that are longer are usually the ones where instead of focussing on stabilizing, I am just doing what I want to be doing and keeping my focus on the dream alone rather than only stabilization. I will try it and let you guys know, lately however I've been busy with school starting and its my senior year so I gotta keep really focused on school rather than LD.

You just don't want to become too focused on stabilizing that you forget about the vastness of the dream. When stabilizing, sometimes one might tend to focus too hard on one particular object or area, which can cause destabilization. If it helps to stabilize as you go on through the dream, definitely keep up with that! :)

I agree with what Puffin's saying here - practice in real life! When you're walking somewhere, take a look around you, observe your senses and engage your awareness.

Hear the birds far off in the distance, the sound of traffic. Feel your leg muscles move and feel the impact as your foot hits the ground, the weight and movement of your clothes, the rush of air as you breathe in and out.
See the detail in the path you're walking on, the bushes in someone's front lawn, the scenery in the distance. Do all this while focusing on the task at hand - walking.

When you get used to awareness throughout the day and get better at focusing on many things at once, stabilisation becomes much much easier :)

K thanks for your guys help so far however I still have another question, I had a LD this morning and after realizing I was dreaming, I kept walking and started touching things just to stabilize a bit but when I started walking towards a house, its like my right eye in the dream closed and then after it my left eye, I tried opening them both again and it worked for about 4 seconds until I ended up opening my real eyes and waking from the LD. A lot of my other Ld have ended like this, with my eyes unexpectadely closing and me trying to open them, what can be done to help this, it is really getting frustrating for me because I was able to have longer LD when I first started out which is very unusual and annoying.

I had a dream last night which turned lucid and i stabalised it not by vigerously rubbing my hands into my jeans and causing the sensation and thinking about it being caused and what it would feel like.
Now - Someone on here or around the forum said "dont think about the waking up part, just get lost in the dream" i can't find their post but i did this and omg it was very good advice.

Also you need to put your full concentration on the sensation you're trying to get - not to mention even when i was stabalised i decided to use the lick the floor technique for good measure - and i wanted to try it, despite the floor under me being a dirty ragged old matress

so your saying what helped you get past this problem is getting lost in the dream instead of focusing just on keeping in it without waking up? also I do try to get the full sensation when stabilizing, one time I grabbed onto a fence and touched it, feeling the wood, but my vision was lost in seconds even though I still felt the fence, then I had a FA for about 2 seconds and when I realized that I actually woke up.

Well it'll be the mentality of thinking you're going to wake up, knowing this happened in your last lucids.

But also what puffin said about being aware and not totally putting full concentration into stabalising helps.

Like when iwas stabalising i was looking where i was standing, i was aware of the yellowish glow of everything from the street lamps outside and i think the fact i became lucid through awareness rather than a random reality check in my dream helped with the awareness side.

Try looking around at your surroundings then doing a combination of stabalisation techniques.
Use 5 senses - try to smell things, touch yourself (not in that way....)
Be confident within yourself that you're going to stay within the dream.
Try licking stuff, wierd but it helps, i think the fact i licked my own hand in last nights dream helped since i could feel the sensation of the tiny hairs rubbing on my tounge and feel the wet saliva on my hand.
Ofcourse make sure you do a reality check beforee you stabalise - you could be really tired in the street one day and regret licking that wall.
