      Pain associated with Sleep Paralysis?

The other night I had been sleeping for about 5 hours, when I awoke and then began to drift asleep again. When I was half-way asleep I began experiencing SP. But it wasn't normal, the side of my back began to feel like it was being ripped from the inside, or a feeling like a horrible cramp. I tried to ignore it, because I was trying to use this SP as a catalyst into an LD. But I think it was too irritating, and I wasn't able to LD. Then it happened again that same night, another sharp pain on the right side of my back.

Is this something that can happen occasionally from the body going into a paralytic state? A side effect such as cramping or something? I am not that worried about it, but was wondering what was causing it. I can't be ultra-positive whether I was actually conscious at the time, it may have been a false awakening with SP, which somehow generated pain into the scenario. This isn't the first time that it has happened though. I recall other times.

Does anyone else have this, and why does it happen? I assume there isn't any actual danger with it. But I don't understand why I was having intense pain during SP.
Never stop searching for truth. In your search you may think you have found it, and perhaps you have, but if you hold on tightly to a single thread it will fray and it's greater meaning will become lost. There is always more truth stretching deep beneath the surface that promises to reveal ever greater the infinite, interwoven fabric of truth, woven in the looms of Heaven.

I think ive head of others who have epxerienced pain while in SP. I think the only thing you can really do is to ignore it. Really, the more you think about it and dwell on it, the more it will bother you and probably the more it will hurt. Im not sure though

Experiement though! try eating something different or nothing at all before bed. Or excersice before...whatever...do different things and see if it effects it

Yeah, I've actually had this happen to me as well. It was on my lower back. I've realised that this usually happens to me when im laying on my stomach. It is very painful, and I uaully can't ignore it and must stop it.

Well it happened again last night. Woke up with SP and tried to close my eyes to go back to sleep, but I had this horrible pain in the side of my chest, like I was speared. I tried to ignore it, but it eventually woke me up completely. I was pretty upset. But I realized I wasn't sore anywhere. So I can't figure out why this is happening. Is this possibly a natural reaction that is supposed to occur when you already asleep so you don't feel the pain, but sometimes it happens prematurely while you are still conscious? And if so, what is the pain actually from?
