Last night i set my alarm kinda early so I could WBTB. I was really tired so i kept drifting off. I was falling asleep but my bath tub was dripping water into a puddle that had formed at the bottom. It kept dripping and dripping and i almsost fell aslepp a few times but my mind kept picturing myself going and turning it off and when the sound wouldn't go away i got confused. Then i realized I was sleeping and became more aware and awake. This happened 3 times. I dont know if I was in a dream or not because i dont remember if I saw anything as I was thinking I had turned off the dripping bath or it was just in the blackness I saw when going to bed. Is this weird ... I don't really know. This might have been incoherent.

oh yeah ... something else. When we are dreaming and our eyes close how do we see stuff. Can our brain produce an environment where we have most of our senses without using the rest of our body (nose, mouth, hands). Thats crazy.

Try this one out here. Close your eyes and think about a tropical beach with palm trees, flowing in the wind, beautiful sand and a huge blue ocean. You see that? There you have it. :goodjob2:

But seriously the only thing I can think of is through the "minds eye". Yup how does that one grab ya? More confused now than ever huh? Don't worry so am I :lolxtreme:

you were most likely sleeping...or at least drifting...you know..in limbo between reality and dreaming

and yes...our brain can create such environments with the help of hypnogagic imagery i believe :P

I've used this technique as a lucid dreaming method - by leaving a dripping tap sound (either speakers or a dinkum dripping tap)
Make a dreamsign out of water and dripping, and wham, there ya go :D

Of course any family members might want to kill you, unless you use a headphone.
And I take no responsibility who accuse me of giving them chinese water torture! lol ;)

while we're on this subject, can anyone explain the term 'binaural beats'? what are they, and how do they affect sleep, dreaming, and lucidity in general?
i sometimes listen to some very downbeat music before i go off to sleep, i get some interesting hypnagogic images, but when the cd stops, i invariably fall asleep, till the morning.
I'm looking to find something that keeps me nicely stuck between the two, as in, not quite asleep, but dreaming.

I vaugely recall that word. Let me check wikipedia.

There you go. :P I think BWGen creates binaural beats. It's shareware, so it works with a couple of sounds but you can't import new ones. We've had loads of topics about those here, search BWGen on the forums.
