Did anyone in the UK see Bang Goes The Theory last night? (19th Sept)

They had a sleep related item about how blue light alters our awareness - there is another receptor in our eyes other than the rods and cones. I am wondering if this could have any relevance regarding lucidity. Perhaps this kind of light could be used to boost our awareness at WBTB or maybe this blue light would work in some kind of EILD device instead of the traditional red lights?

This is already been done, I have seen masks which shine light to help you become more aware.
Not sure about the colour though.

I didn't see the TV show you're referring to, but I'm aware of the phenomenon; it was also covered in an episode of BBC Horizon. As far as I'm aware blue light regulates melatonin levels (which determine when you feel tired) and blue light can be used to prevent people from feeling tired. As for its application in lucid dreaming, I don't think it would be much use during a WBTB as you suggest, because it would only make it more difficult to return to sleep. As for EILD, it could be possible that blue light would cause the brain to be more "wakeful" and thus make it easier to achieve lucidity. Personally, I doubt that that would be the case, but it's certainly an interesting suggestion, and worth investigating.

Presumably you mean Stephen LaBerge, and the Nova Dreamer, which uses red light, and which Bobblehat is clearly already aware of, as he referred to it in his original post.

I have heard about different colors affecting your dreams and sleeping. It is pretty interesting to me, and I think blue could help you attain lucidity.

At first I was like, wait, did you mean Big Bang Theory? Then I looked it up.
"I know that I am mortal by nature, and ephemeral; but when I trace at my pleasure the windings to and fro of the heavenly bodies I no longer touch the earth with my feet: I stand in the presence of Zeus himself and take my fill of ambrosia, food of the gods." - Claudius Ptolemy
