      Arrrgh this is annoying !!

So last night I was having a very vivid dream and for some reason I started questioning reality and kept asking people if this was real and if I was dreaming.

I attempted to put my hand through my other hand but it wouldn't work, then I tried jump up and fly but I couldn't fly.
I also looked at the time on my watch and it was about 11 pm however I was outside and it was sunny.

I think there was enough reasons to become fully lucid then, but I don't think I did :\

      any thoughts?

I find the most reliable reality checks that make it obvious you're dreaming are either looking at the amount of fingers you have, or plugging your nose and trying to breathe through it. You've got the right idea by jumping and trying to fly as a reality check, next time try something a little more simple. For example, try to visualize something in your hand, or jump higher than you normally could. You've come close, it will also help if you train your mind to recognize more reliable reality checks.

Usually when I get these dreams where I am being more analytical then usual and I am questioning reality but dont fully become lucid, It leads to me having a lucid dream in the next following days, keep at it with the RC's but like theta said I would try something simpler like plugging your noes and trying to breathe, keep at it, you are close but not quite yet there.

My vote also goes to counting fingers and breathing with your nose closed.

      Awareness is the key.
I mentioned this a few times in some topics, but don't do your RCs automatically.
2 nights ago I had a dream where I looked my hand everything seemed normal, but when I actually concentrated on counting fingers one by one I realized that there were 6 of them.
Before that I was using RC where I would try to change the color of something, but that failed like 50% of times in my dreams because I was not aware in my waking life.

Don't stress about it. Doing reality checks in your dreams even if they fail is a step forward.
Work on your awareness in everyday life, and on 'living in the moment' - this is of big importance to me.
And remember that lucidy is not only none existent or fully. Its a scale 0-100. So you were lucid to some level in this dream, even thou you didn't take control over it.
When I was older I used to play with time machines.

I don't think the problem was with the reality checks, you clearly weren't concious enough to realise what was going on, this can be improved by using techniques such as all day awareness, and Puffins SAT guide (links below).
Also, did you try WBTB, it is very useful in remembering to be aware. (4.5 hours after sleep works best for me!)

I recommend to just stop for a minute and look around you. Do you remember going to bed? Where are you, and how did you get here? A lot of people tend to have trouble with the finger going through hand reality check, so I recommend trying the pinching nose one. You pinch your nose and try to breath out of it, when it is pinched. Believe that you can breath out of it, and if you do...you're dreaming!

As for the flying, check out my flying guide! Good luck, and I hope you have a lucid soon!
