Woot! And question.
I had to share, I have recently got back into working on lucid dreaming. I'm normally lazy and can't be bothered to do redshift checks/write in my dream journal. I'm quite proud because not last night but the night before I had a lucid dream, woke up after it and wrote it down. Near the time I had to wake up, I had another dream so I wrote that down. Last night I remembered not 1 but 4 dreams!. I've never done that before. *2 dreams were lengthy ones and the other two I can't remember much but a small detail but the fact is, I remembered all 4 and I woke up remembering then all. I didn't wake up through the night at all.
Also, my question. So when I had my lucid dream, it was dark. It's always dark in my lucid dreams and bad things always happen. I honestly tried waking myself up and had a false awakening. I decided to stay in my dream. I relaxed and focused so I stayed lucid and I kept imagining light coming through the windows but sadly it remained dark. Later on when talking to a DC, a light outside the room shone through but then vanished.
If I keep practicing on imaging light, at one point, will I actually get light when I ask for it?.
Thanks.

It's your dream, you can do anything in it, it's just a matter of practice and control.
Have you tried vocal commands, they work really well for me, so next time your lucid and have run out of ideas to gain control try shouting "Lights on!" or "Brighten", might work for you.
Other methods you could try are, expecting it to be bright in the next room you walk into, or to look around fast and it will be a different time of day. The only reason why having nightmare lucids is because you believe that bad things are going to happen so don't worry about it, and anyway I'm sure you will get over it, and when you do it's one of the most satisfying things!
So good luck, and if you have any more questions, just ask! ;)
