      Clarity and LD Length

Has anyone ever had the problem where once they stabilize the dream it slips away. And only after they stabilized the dream. For example the other night I had an LD where I spent the first couple minutes with a fairly low level of lucidity and clarity. But then I remembered to stabilize and a few seconds after I had finished that the dream ended. Does anyone have any suggestions for this problem? Thanks in advance
      Lucid Goals
      - Have a 10+ minute lucid dream
      - Take tequila shots with a DC
      - Use the force
      - Teleport to dream castle by making a portal in dream
      - Practice flying

Yeah I have had this problem. There is a good way to solve it.

Once you stabilize you shouldn't just go run off doing willy nilly. When you are done stabilizing, just calm down, don't go running off just yet. Take a few moments to chill and get used to the dream state, look around you and just take in the dream scene, take a few deep breaths if you feel fit. The basic goal of this is to just calm yourself down so the dream is stable enough so you can accomplish what you want. So just for a few moments just go about everything sort of calmly, maybe do a few low key dream control things. Talk to some DC's or something. Now some people may have other views on this but I feel that if you calm down after you stabilize that you will have a better chance of having a longer lucid dream.

      I hope this helps!

      Hey solpic,

Maintaining stabilisation is tough and pretty advanced technique, it is difficult because when we are lucid, although we are aware and slightly more concious we usually don't think exactly like to do in waking life, which is why it can be difficult to remember to stop every so often to focus. But don't worry there is a few easy ways you can get around this.
Experience - The more lucids you have the more stable lucids will be, this is a key factor!
Remaining Calm - Dreams tend to be more stable if you are calm and also if you tend to do stuff that wont surprise you.
Shouting! - Every so often in the dream (if you remember) shout "Clarify" and watch as your mind does wonders!

Hope that helped, if you have any other questions just ask!

      Happy Dreams!

In one of my lucids the other night I had a song going through my head (like in real life when you can't get a song out of your head) and the lucid lasted a good 30 mins.
      Could be worth a try.

If you only have the skills to do so you can experience anything you can imagine as real.

That's pretty odd, I don't know how one would reproduce that.

Arch - I probably do just need to get more experience. My LDs are pretty infrequent so I'm usually not prepared for them and pretty surprised.

Kona - What I'm saying is that's what I am doing but it seems like as soon as I calm myself down the dream fades away. Maybe its because once I calm down I realize the dream could end.

For an example of what I mean check out Ferrari California and Journey to Saudi Arabia - Dream Journals - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views. As soon as I started increasing my visual clarity the dream started to fade away.

      Easy.
When you become lucid think of a song you know the lyrics to and insted of taking in the details or shouting clarity things like that, just sing the first line of the song in your head then go on with your dream.
After a little time sing the next line in your head and so on.

Stabilization should generally improve the clarity, vividness and length of a dream, but sometimes you're just at the end of a REM period. In this case, there's no REM left to keep the dream going, so it ends and you wake up.

We all live in a kind of continuous dream. When we wake, it is because something,
some event, some pinprick even, disturbs the edges of what we have taken as reality.

I dont know all my lucid dreams seem to be in amazing clarity and when i do stabilize i usually have a problem with closing one of my eye in the dream world. I have to "close" one of my eyes so that i don't lose lucidity. But otherwise my dream always are VERY clear and 3d when lucid

Well, considering I become lucid through random RCs, and that m y RC is also a method of stabilization it is rather easy keep clairity and things stable, may I ask, what method are you using to become lucid?

Maybe when you tried to stabilize your mind woke up, and you got excited which made the dream collopase. Like you were sort of aware this is a dream them you went damn I'm having a lucid dream!!! then it excited you a bit to much.

Lol I think it might have something to do with that. Its like whenever I stabilize then it really dawns on me, "Oh shit this is a lucid dream" and then my next thought is usually "I better make sure it doesn't end" and then it ends.

Hukif: I halfheartedly use the MILD technique but usually I just become lucid out of nowhere with no reality checks.

In which case make it a mantra to not think about the dream ending and instead just stabilize, problem should solve itself.
