Shift LD towards beginning of a regular dream?

Hi guys.

My LDs are really short. I know, they will probably become longer with my experience (only 5 LDs in one month, so far).

But I have also noticed, that my LDs happen at the end of a very long regular dreams, so they are short, because my REM cycle is already ending.

I guess, WILD will get you directly into a Lucid Dream, but is there any way to shift beginning of an LD towards the beginning of a regular dream while doing MILD/DILD?

One thing you could try is spinning when you start to feel the dream fade. If you catch it early enough you can often save the dream and skip right into another REM period, aka, another dream. Another method, which is my personal favorite, is DEILD, or dream-exit induced lucid dream. It's when you wake up from a dream (be it lucid or not) and stay completely still, not even opening your eyes or swallowing, and preforming a short WILD, but you pretty much skip the SP phases/heavy chest that scare many people.

If you don't do anything there is a possibility that you could realize that you are in a dream towards the beginning of it, but it is not as reliable as the techniques listed. Also, you could always attempt a WILD, and, who knows, it might be the technique for you. Just remember not to give up :)

Thank you so much. You answered two of my questions with one answer :D Now I finally know, that what I had couple of days ago was a DEILD. It could easily become my new favorite method. I enjoyed it very much. Great idea - instead of trying to become lucid at the beginning of the dream with DILD, why not start a brand new dream with DEILD! Awesome. Just have to teach myself not to move as I'm coming out of a dream - I was only able to do it once before, and I got me a DEILD out of it! Thanks again.

If you are ever like me, I actually get dizzy and fall down when my dreams are ending. I almost feel like I'm in SP, but I still see the dream world around me. Because of this, spinning was impossible. Then I found out a great way during a situation like this.
I rub my hands together.
It sounds weird, but it works. I simply rub my hands together and feel the friction that is occurring. It then easily keeps me in the dream without trouble and I can carry on with my usual business.
In the case of not falling to the ground completely paralyzed I would spin because I find it much more efficient. ;)

I tried an experiment with this for DILD on the forum, but never got attention.
Anyway an already working thing, my gravity RC allows me to become lucid at the very start of dreams, since it focuses on your own body and from start to end, the body is a very important part of dreams (Yes, this includes 3rd person dreams)

Thanks everybody for great ideas. I love reading all the ideas, because I have noticed, that when in a LD, I do remember instructions I have read here on DV.

Now I have two methods:

1. rubbing hands or spinning - when I notice lucid dream is ending
2. attempt a DEILD - when my dream ends abruptly and I don't have a chance to do method #1, or the first dream was a regular dream
