Trouble with flying, need advice!

About a week ago, I had a lucid dream and I had trouble with flying!:( This is how the whole dream went:

A non-important part was that me and my best friends Braden and Josh were at a house at night. We was standing outside, and we made a promise about something, but I couldn't remember what it was about.

That part of my dream faded, and it went to a completely different role. I was in my Second period in school, with the same people except I had a pretty girl sitting behind me(In real life, a girl I like very much sits behind me in that period. Just thought I'd throw that in there :P).

I was eating bread straight from the package it comes in, and I was messing with a pillow that just appeared there. I realized it was a dream, and could do whatever I wanted without consequence, so I turned around to kiss the girl but she was gone!

I walked out of my second period and saw Braden in his classroom, and he walked outside when he saw me. We walked up to my friend Josh and I told him "Dude! We're in a dream right now!" He just said "I know, right? hahahahaha jk :P." In my honest opinion, I think he said that in my dream because that's how he texts in real life(Puts lots of Ha's or lol's in every sentence for no apparent reason.) Anywho, back to the story!

After he said that to me, I checked the time and saw it was a certain time, and I knew I only had about 15 minutes of my dream left, so I thought I'd make the best of it. In the middle of the hallway at school, I got down on all fours and began running REALLY fast!! I ran, jumped on the walls, and finally burst outside, where I ran normal and jumped and tried to fly, and...

I busted:( I only floated for about a full 5 seconds. My friend Braden kept laughing and pointing at me, but I ignored him and tried again and again, but ended up with the same result every time. Then, i woke up.

I've had this problem in many dreams before! I try to run, jump up, and fly how I have flied in my other dreams, but I just fall to the ground. I think I've only successfully flew in about 4 dreams, compared to the 20 dreams that I have tried and failed. Is there anyone who is having the same problem as me? If you've over come this before, PLEASE give me tips. I would greatly appreciate it! thank you for reading:)

When I first learned to fly my plan was to use the technique where you jump in the air a few times. After jumping 2 times I thought, "Why don't I just do it already? It's a dream, anything goes!" So then I just levitated up and flew high into the sky super fast.

Most of the time with my dream control I just do it and put very little thought on it. I think dream control works differently for everyone, so I might not be very helpful.

The way I always achieve flight is not running or jumping, but simply sticking my arms out to the side, floating upward about 10 or so feet, and then taking off. However it seems you have already reached the levitation stage, it's just the 'taking off' part that you haven't gotten. For that I would agree with Oreoboy, you really just have to do it. When I attempt 'difficult' things in lucid dreams I don't give myself any time to doubt or second guess my ability to do 'x' thing, and, generally, it just happens :)

If that doesn't work you could also try a rocket pack, iron man suit, flight potion, or some other in-dream aid to convince yourself you have the ability. Never tried it myself, but I do like the idea.

I agree with the above two posters. In order to fly, you just have to get yourself to believe that it will happen, but don't overthink it.

If you need help, why not ask your friend or other DC for a dream pill/dream potion/wings/jetpack/rocket boots? If you have trouble, this aid can help a lot.

I only succeeded at flying recently, and trust me - it's worth all the effort to soar above the dreamscape.

Yeah, just like they said, believe it will happen, want it to happen, and know that it will happen, and it will.

You could try jumping, imagining as though gravity does not exist in your world, imagining there is nothing below you, imagining that you're a flying squirrel, or BELIEVING helps. I'm not really sure, you may have to make up your own method, everyone is different. It usually just comes naturally to me. The main part is that you believe, without belief, you wouldn't be in the lucid dream in the first place to begin with.

don't get too discouraged. flying isn't easy for everyone to achieve. i have the same problem. every time i attempt it nothing happens. ive only done it once. i didnt give myself any time to think about it i just jumped up and was confident i was gonna fly and i flew straight to outer space. it was really fast and i fell back to earth a couple seconds after

I like to fly 'superman' style. It was also once mentioned by KingYoshi in his class on dream control (which has shamefully enough been deleted when he left). Hold your arm out like superman, point in the direction in which you want to fly (it's easiest with an object, but pointing at a 'piece of air' also works). Then, sprint and jump, imagine yourself being pulled towards the object.

Works for me and you can create stuff. I created a motorbike with it a few lucids ago.

Sometimes when I've been unable to fly forwards I simply try flying backwards while laying on my back, like doing the backstroke kind of. Sounds odd but it works for me lol

last night was the first time i floated intentionally because i was lucid and i thought 'i should get some of my lucid goals done'. So i did, so i flew to space. I also found a way of teleportation. I just think about what the place looks like and let the dream form around me.
but on a more focused note i usually just think what it would be like to fly.

Yeah quite a few years ago I had this dream that I wore the turboman suit from jingle all the way... really an interesting experience.

1. Negative focus
2. Negative self-talk
3. Negative comparisons.

Take it from someone who, for the moment, remains grounded. You flew 4 times man! That is FRIKKIN' AWESOME! If it were me, that's what I would be thinking about. I would be thinking day and night about my amazing flying experiences. I would be thankful for each one of them. I would state clearly, to the universe, the mechanisms God put in place, that, "I want to fly!" I would say this three times every night before I went to bed. As I brushed my teeth I would daydream about flying in my dreams, all the things I could do. How about having sex while flying? How about flying to that new inhabitable planet they recently found and looking around? These are the sorts of possibilities I would spark my daydreams with. As I fall to sleep I would remember, with a big smile on my face, my flying experiences, or I would continue my daydream as I drifted off to sleep.

If you do this, changing your focus on what you have instead of what you have not, stating what you want instead of what you don't want and approaching your desired subject with thankfulness and a sense of adventure, you will become a most proficient flyer.
