My situation (possibly the end of my threads).

My ability to lucid dream: Crap
Clarity: Crap
Lucidity/Control: Crap
I have a lucid dream: About once a month now, used to be like two a week.

I, suck at lucid dreaming. I can't DILD, WILD, BAIEDDKKILD, whatever, I can't do it. I used to be actually pretty good at lucid dreaming, but now I suck. Whenver I lucid dream, it looks like I'm underwater, and I almost have no control, and I do about two things and pretty much let things go. I need teh helps :shock:. Are there any excercises or something I can do?

Used to be very good at them, lucid dreaming in 5 minutes. Now I can't lucid dream, I just never get there. I feel like I'm doing everything correctly, but they just never happen.

Never could do them, can't do it now.

Any other methods? I havn't really heard of anything else that sounds like it'd work.

poor you, day dream about them everyday hypnotize each day. an eat a bunch of bananas before you escape realtiy....:/

Have you tried meditation? That might help. I have found that I can only lucid dream when I am not stressed about life and am at peace with myself. Also, you should try to feel like life is a kind of dream: the mystery is not "why are brains conscious?" but "why is there an objective reality?" Whenever you suspect you might be dreaming, you should thoughtfully do a reality check and be accepting of the results whatever they may be; of course, that is only for DILD -- I can't help you with WILD. Also, you could try to forget about LD for a while, because that will help get your conscious self to get into a more accepting state of mind (your subconscious will probably still be obsessed with LD for a while anyway, which I think is good).

I would also reccomend taking a break. I jsut recently ended a 1 year break in which i put no effort into LDing anyways i was kind of frustrated at the time but now i am more into it then ever.

Lucid dreaming isn't something you get good at and can then stop the disciplinary practices necessary for it. You have to get way into it and do all the stuff necessary to do it well, even after you have apparently mastered it. It is not riding a bike. Here are my suggestions:

1. Don't smoke pot often at all. It makes dreams less clear and less rememberable, and it makes people too lazy to do the necessary disciplines for lucid dreaming.

2. Do reality checks many times every day. Get yourself obsessed with watching reality to see if it all adds up. Keep reminding yourself throughout the day that when reality does not add up, you are dreaming.

3. Keep a dream journal. Become very familiar with what the dream world is like, and think about it a lot while you are awake.

4. Train yourself to immediately recognize dream signs, and attempt to create them in the waking world, even though it is impossible to actually create them. For example, I KNOW that when I am flying by my own power, I am definitely dreaming. When I get serious about lucid dreaming (which is when I am not on dope all the time), I try to fly a lot of times every day. Then, I will dream about trying to fly and actually be able to do it. That is what induces my lucidity about 90% of the time.

5. I am not an expert on WILDs and the other techniques you mentioned, but I will say keep practicing them. The first four steps I mentioned will help those techniques become more effective.

I had a WILD today, I found out it's just my lack of confidence that is restraining me from lucid dreaming.

Lucid Dreaming is a Tool, but you look upon it as a Goal.

Your Higher Mind has lost interest in you because you do not want anything that it would be of interest to your Higher Mind to give you.

So the cure to your problem is relatively simply... suggest to the higher mind that you will enthusiastically pursue whatever goal it presents to you, as long as the Dream that presents the Plan is of grandiose enough proportions so that there can be no mistake.

It will signify that you are ready to use Lucidity for some greater end than merely being proficient in Lucid Dreaming.

Now, Dreams are a Creative Process and unless the Higher Self already has such a dream ready made in the film can somewhere, it might take several weeks for the Big Dream to hit. But you could expect a few 'nibbler' dreams -- precursor dreams to sound the waters.

I find that being really relaxed helps. If I'm preoccupied or stressed, LD's just aren't forthcoming. But if I'm just trying to catch 40 winks and think about nothing but good sleep, they crop up out of nowhere! So go easy on yourself and don't get upset. Fluctuations in occurence are normal. Just relax your body and mind and let dreams happen as they will.
