What I find highly important is that lucid dreaming does not become a bother. Make sure it stays fun for you. For exaple, if you wake up in the middle of the night, then it is possible that you don't feel like writing down your dreams in a DJ. A lot of people will still do it, but LDing should be something not only fun to reach, but also something fun when TRYING to reach it. So, in the example of disliking to keep a DJ, it might be a good idea to use your wakeups for DEILD rather than keeping a DJ. Always make sure it isn't a bother for you.
Apart from that, it certainly helps to think of the things you could do in a LD. Think about the excitement when you first heard about it, how unbelievable it was to be able to do literally ANYTHING. That feeling is also a good way of staying motivated.
So, in short: remember the initial excitement, and make sure you attain your lucids in a way that is comfortable for you! Good luck!
