Do we loose the ability to LD if we donīt practice often?. Or once learnt is it a skill you keep forever?.

And I can vouch for that result. I've lost it. :? Ah well, I'll be working hard from now on to get it back, I miss exploring my dreams and meeting everyone in them.
For those of us that are not natural, yes, the ability seems to atrophy if you are not activly pursuing them.
I say atrophy, but I don't think it will ever go away totally. Once a person has learned about LD, they will always have those special nights every once in a while where the switch is thrown and they realize it is a dream :D
I never learned how to do it in the first place but about 80% of my dreams are lucid. Sometimes I get really into the whole lucid dreaming experience (doing research, being on this site and posting, etc.) and sometimes I'll go for a few months and never think about it - but I still always have them. I would think, though, for people who it doesn't come naturally to, they will probably lose it if they don't use it (so to speak). Just like with anything else.
I'll have to agree with that. I have not been able to really work at lucid dreaming for more than 6 weeks now due to personal issues (i.e. when it's time to sleep, that's all I want to do), but I still find that I will have a lucid dream about once a week or so. They are short, and at a fairly low level of lucidity, but they happen nonetheless.Quote:

well, i recently got backk into performing reality checks, and making a note of dreamsigns.
I have hit a wall though. I see my dreamsigns, know i am dreaming. I'm right on the edge of lucidity, but then something distracts me...
aggh.
It's very annoying, and i can't seem to get past it.
Add to that the last couple of night's dreams haven't been that great or that vivid...and last night was worse,i've only got a couple of random images.
