2nd Lucid Dream - Problem

Last night I had my second Lucid, I was having a dream related to the newly released karate kid movie and they were all fighting near a patch of grass near my house, I realise it was a dream and became lucid.

At this point, I closed my eyes to wish I was at Hogwarts from Harry Potter but when I closed my eyes I kindaof woke up.

When I woke up, my lucid dream didnt feel real, I mean I didnt feel it like I do real life and was wondering how do I make them feel like real life and see them like real life.

Also, how do I make sure they last longer because as soon as I closed my eyes, I woke up without warning so I couldn't rub my hands to make it last longer because I didn't know. However, it could of been my alarm but when I woke I was tired and cant remember how I woke up.

First of all: Never close your eyes when you are in LD. You lose focus, end up waking up.

Well I think the key element of lasting longer and doing (creating) whatever you want is self suggesting and focusing as much as possible at the same time not giving much effort doing that. Kind a seems like a paradox, but it's not. Also it was your second LD, so you will get used to it and eventually they will last longer.

Spinning helps when trying to relocate. The problem with closing your eyes is that sometimes they won't open again or you will open your real eyes instead of your dream eyes and wake up altogether. For first time LDs I wouldn't try such complex tasks, try to explore around and walk through walls or something until you get more experience. -Chase

Get up from your chair and feel your weight on your legs. Sense the pressure under each footstep as you walk to the window and pick out the most minute detail from your furthest points of vision. Listen to the sound of crows cawing, of cars passing by, of your computer humming.

Point is, if you don't feel real life as real, then how are you supposed to dream realistically?

Practice this kind of awareness in waking life, and you'll remember to do so in your dream.

I agree with all three posts above me. Closing your eyes is very dangerous for retaining lucidity. It can be pulled off eventually, but why bother. Staying in the dream will be covered in great length on any post about stabilizing. A thousand ways to do it. I think it is funny what roland3tr says about focusing with out putting to much effort in it. That is so true and hard to understand. You need to bring some of your waking brain into play, but not too much! If you try to force something, you are doing it wrong! You just learn to expect things to happen or something of that nature (every one has their own tricks).
Pick a basic stabelizing trick from the lists you will find all over. I still use the old classic of look at your hands. You normally would not really have hands in a dream, you are kind of floating through it. Looking at your hands (or any stabilizing trick) makes your brain activily engage in the dream, and brings you to more awareness of your dream body. That is the trick to long dreams.
Clarity and real life effects will be in some dreams and not others. Often when I WILD the first few minutes are kind of in black and white, then it improves. I some times have LDs that are very low res, and often extremely HD.
Control takes practice and time as your brain figures out the details. I agree you should start simple, but even more basic than walking through walls! Walking through walls took me alot of practice. I banged into them and pressed my face into them, often with no effect. Now it is easy. I recommend trying to create effects your brain can easily believe at first. Look for something and find it. Maybe decide to find a dog, pretend you know where the dog is and look there. Pretend you know the sun is setting and expect it any moment. See if it does,, that kind of control. It takes years to get to a point where dreams last more than 5 minutes and were you can teleport, fly and so on. This may happen by luck once in awhile before that, but don't rush it. You get to do this stuff for the rest of your life.
