Non lucid elements mixed with lucidity?

So yeah, I had a confusing LD... but I would be glad if someone experienced could clear some of my doubts about this night...
I first woke up after 4h of sleep and tried to WILD, I couldn't concentrate 'cause of some street noises and when I could concentrate a lil bit more the ring of "low battery" of my mom's cellphone in the living room started and I gave up WILDing... I just fell asleep. Just remembering that these last days I was writing only few lines in my dream journal 'cause I was waking up lazy enough to ignore the write your dreams down habit...
I don't remember HOW I got lucid in the dream I had after falling asleep but I remember things like: trying to breath with my nose plugged and that really stabilized the dream and trying to summon DC's, I tried twice and could talk to my dead cousin after entering a new place and with a friend after turning around a corner... so my doubts are about gaps in memory that confuses me about how lucid I was in the dream >_< Is it normal to have a lucid dream and not remember it so well, like sometimes happens in a non lucid? If so, to improve this do I need to improve my general dream recall? 'Cause I feel like I was REALLY lucid only in some decisions but then it feels like my consciousness went to the second layer, below the unconsciousness... is this understandable? Any answers that can clarify this experience are welcome! Thanks, anyway!

Sounds to me like a low level LD. it have happened to me to on some occasions - some dreams are just harder to recall, especially if you don't keep a drsam journal. You really answered it yourself. Yes, you probably had a LD, but your recall is bad, 'cause you havent trained it up to an acceptable level. It is probably The most important thing to do as you start out. you can have brilliant recall from some dreams in about two weeks if you discipline yourself. Just try to write down some bits from your last dream of the night. that should do the trick.

Probably you will also get better recall and awareness in the dream, when you learn to do some dream-stabilizing techniques. Start out by simply rubbing your hands in the dream, looking around, touching objects that should stabilize the dream and hopefully make it more vivid.

That is why having good dream recall is so important. It's less that it was a "low lucid level" and more of a "low recall level." Your dream probably was vivid, you just don't remember all of it. I am entirely sure that a lot of people have had epic lucid dreams only to wake up and not remember any of it. That's why focusing on increasing your dream recall is so vital to lucid dreaming. Do you keep a dream journal? How is your overall dream recall? Do you find that you don't remember your dreams as being extremely vivid?

A lot of people tend to pair lucidity with vividness as one in the same, and they are really not. It sounds like you are right on about having a "low level of consciousness," as far as your ability to remember all the details. Sounds like you're well on your way though :) Good luck!

Yea I keep a dream journal but these last 2 weeks was kinda problematic cause my routine changed a lot and I went from remembering 2-3 dreams (non lucids)/day to just one and a really blurry one... now that I'm getting used to my routine things are getting better but I stayed maybe 1 week just writing a few keywords on the DJ... So yea it looks like I need to practice a lot of dream recall!
