Recurring failure.
Hey guys... Just wanted to talk about my 'experience' thus far.
I'm pretty topped up on LD knowledge... And you'll see why after this post lol.
Well last year (June, to be exact) I found about this Lucid Dreaming stuff so I did research and all the usual stuff before diving into it. I've been a bit of a lurker here since then, too - but active in the chat. Anyway, by the end of the month I felt ready to give it a go.
My routine had been a relaxation before sleep (and if it progressed and further, then so be it) and a WBTB with a WILD/MILD. This has gone on ever since August last year up until the beginning of this month where I took up ADA.
I'm not sure what's wrong, but it's coming up to a year and I've not had a lucid or any SP... 'Though I may have experienced some HI but I'm really not sure.
My dream recall is great. A minimum of 1 dream and 80% of the time it's 2 or more.
'Just want to know what you guys think or if you have any advice...
EDIT: Just wanted to note that I still believe that I can have a lucid and I'm not dwelling on the fact that I've not had one.

Try and try again
I dream of a world were all the united kingdom people have 100's of lds :)
-
Haha I haven't given up! I'm still set on having a Lucid... I will have one tonight.
-
First, not all people need to go through SP in order to WILD so that could be a first problem.
ADA is a very slow process, a month isn't enough to get the lucids rolling I don't think, maybe 2 or 3 months and you should notice the change?
-
I do expect it will take a couple of months.
I'm not 100% expecting SP, but I can be laying there for upwards of 30-45 minutes and nothing happens apart from an extremely light feeling in my hands and very occasionally my feet/legs.
-
Well, you aren't 100% expecting it, but you ARE expecting it. So the thought can easily keep you awake for that long without much sucess.
Also, do you WBTB for long? How long after going to sleep? Do you close your eyes? Is there any kind of HH?
-
It's between 4 and 5 hours after going to sleep... Yes I close my eyes and I've not experienced any HH whilst attempting a WBTB.
The only time I experienced it was before sleep and it was brief because it scared the pants off of me... I wasn't expecting it lol.
-
Ah, so how long do you stay up for the WBTB? Maybe you are staying up for too long and not sleepy enough?
Did you try any other different times? 4-5 is the standard, but you have to search for your own regardless.
HH can be controlled, so nothing to worry about with these, yup.
-
Normally I turn off the alarm and go straight back to sleep.
On occasion I stay up for 10 minutes... But each attempt feels the same.
-
Hm, I am guessing the alarm is loud. Are you a light sleeper? That could be a problem.
You could always try to use MILD in order to wake up without the need of an alarm.
-
I'll probably have some more tries with MILD. Let's hope for the best.
-
Have you tried staying up longer than 10 min for WBTB? You should stay up until you can think straight, but you are still sleepy. It can be from couple of min to 1 hour.
-
I can think perfectly within a couple of minutes after waking up... But then I'm not sleepy anymore lol.

Are you getting too excited when you get up? Thinking about the coming day? Stay as calm as possible. I read DV, watch LD videos on youtube, read a book about LDing. You can do some relaxation when you go back to bed. Tell yourself, not sleeping is not an option. You will be wiped out next day. Sometimes it takes me an hour to fall back asleep, but just stay with it.
