I'm a noobie - interested in lucid dreaming

Hello,

Before last week, I had never heard of the phenomenon but have taken a great interest in controlling my dreams (seems euphoric). I've started to keep a dream journal and write things on my hand to continually question whether or not I'm awake or in a dream. I have yet to have a lucid dream but I find I'm REALLY easily remembering my dreams for ~hours after I wake up which gives me the time to write them down, this is something I hadn't achieved in the past.

I just don't want to get to far ahead of myself. How long does it take for someone to become good at lucid dreaming? Can I expect to become paralyzed in the middle of the night? I feel like that may scare me and make me anxious.

I'd like to become lucid but I want to be more informed first, I've read all around but I prefer to hear from experienced individuals who have been in my starter position. What should I expect? What should I do? Is it possible to become lucid every night?

It's possible to get lucid every night. A lot of users on here can do that. How fast you get results varies on each person. If you attempt to WILD you'll go into SP every now and then but don't worry about it it's not that bad. :cheeky:

thanks, the method that interests me most is DILD (where I recognize that I'm in a dream right?) Just not sure how to practice it... I'm working on it!

You can practice DILDs by just being aware of yourself and your surroundings. Here are some tutorials for it.

All Day Awareness by King Yoshi.
And an easier variation of ADA
Sporadic Awareness Technique by Puffin

Both of these were really helpful for me. I recommend doing Sporadic Awareness first for a little bit because It's a little bit easier than King Yoshi's method. But if you want to you can try both. They're very similar and it can only help.

I was gonna suggest also the SAT technique mentioned above. You add mantras and reality checks to it and you have a technique called MILD, which will get you lucids called DILDs. Read up as much as you can, so you are ready for what you can expect. You may get a lucid on first try, or it may take a few days or weeks. Believe, and it will happen.
