Any tips?
So I had my first ld 10 days ago, it was about 5 secs long I had just enough time to do a reality check and to rub my hands to try and attain lucidity, and then I had a false awakening and went back non-lucid, but I can't remember it well at all, my dream recall is so unpredictable, sometimes I remember quite long dreams, sometimes I only remember short scenes and sometimes I don't remember any at all. It doesn't seem to be getting any more consistent. I tried a WBTB this morning which failed, anyone who's been in my position have any tips?

The dream recall fluctuates for most everyone. Not sure what it depends on. A dream journal would come in handy exactly in cases like this. You can see your recall and maybe notice a pattern. But as long as you can recall dreams on regular basis, you are all set.
As to the length of the LD - first ones are usually very short, just like yours. Mostly because of excitement, fluctuation in awareness, not enough experience with stabilizing, not having a plan of action of what to do when lucid. But don't worry, it will get better :) Happy dreams.
