SP to LD transition help!

I am relatively new to lucid dreaming, but i have experienced one before, a DILD. When i try to WILD, after awhile i get a tingling in my arms and legs but not my torso, i assume it is sleep paralysis, but and i tell myself, im going to have a lucid dream, falll asleep, again and again, but to no avail. When i was counting my breaths, i began to lose concentration, and fell asleep. I dreamed, but not a lucid dream. Ihave yet to try WBTB, but am going to try a DEILD, and if i screw that up i can just attempt WILD.

Is what i am experiencing SP? Or have i not even reached that? :D

Btw i am fairly good at dream recall.

That's not sleep paralysis yet. In sleep paralysis your whole body gets paralyzed and gets that tingling feeling. :)

Ok that makes sense i was using the counting method and reached nearly 500 until i feel asleep unconsciously i tried not to move. Perhaps ill try another method

Try loosening your muscles before bed by flexing them and releasing. 500 seconds seems like an awful long time unless you are counting really fast (which I'd advise against). I haven't quite gotten lucid dreaming down myself, but I usually hit full sleep paralysis around count 100.

Tonight i tried again, i felt very relaxed, and as a reached 80 or so i started to feel tingling again. Around 110 i felt like i was being pulled through my head, as some describe it. I tried to relax and focus on a daydream or imagine my body elsewhere, but no matter what i couldn't let go of my physical body. I felt so close to transition when i focused in front of me, but nothing. Eventually i opened my eyes which ruined he sensation, and in all my attempts to start over again i could easily drift to sleep thinking about mini dreams, but i was not in SP.

I know exactly what you mean. I usually am only able to get very numb and a little tingly, with that same pulling sensation. One time, however, I was already a little woozy from staying to do hw. When I followed my same usual steps, I lost all contact with my body except my breathing and began to experience some brief hypnogogic imagery (a bright flash like lightning and a strong pressure on one of my shoulders). Still no lucid's, but I'm trying to memorize that sensation for each of my attempts. It's really hard to ignore both your body and mind, while staying conscious.

Don't try WILD as your first technique as it's the hardest. If you want to do WILD, Do DEILD. It's where you wake up right before or in the middle of a dream already relaxed so you skip that step and you're already in SP. Just when you wake up don't move

That seems like a good technique but if when you wake up you move a little bit it ruins it. In going to try a WBTB with a SSILD.

Will only take a couple tries to get down not moving when you wake up :P

How can i set an alarm to stop itself?

Well it's very difficult to WILD when first going to sleep, since it can take up to 3 hours to get into the REM cycles. WBTB is probably your best bet, although it's hard to not be lazy for me and get up :P

And I personally don't think WILDs are that difficult when done right. You're getting close, just a little extra effort.

I agree with Noobforlyf3. WILDing is not an impossible method if you know what you are doing, but it doesn't seem like you do. In any case you should DEFINITELY have some good lucid experience before attempting.

My advice is to stick with MILDing and DILDing. They are the two most consistent and dependable, and the experience gained from using them is necessary for better dreaming.

Well milding and dilding are like second hand, i do RC during the day and say to myself that i will have a lucid dream, but I feel like with WILD or DEILD you can actually make progress.

I'm getting much better with my WILD technique. I read something interesting that said to imagine combing your hair and to imagine what each comb feels like from the comb on your scalp to the pull through. It kind of helps on the awareness side to. I think it helped the most with ignoring what my body was doing and helped a lot with relaxing my eyes.

This only gets me so far. I get numb and tingly and to the edge of starting SP but as soon as I feel the beginnings of SP I find the feeling so jarring that it takes me back out and my eyes flicker a little and I need to start again from the numb and tingly stage as I don't move. Any advice for that?
