No feeling in dreams?
I have never felt things in dreams. What I mean be that is I see, hear, and move but it is not accompanied with any type of feeling like if I touch something it doesn't have a feel, I don't feel textures, wind or anything. I have VERY vivid imagery and sound but nada on other things. Any ideas? Is this just me or Are others like this too?

Some people report similar. Everyone is different. Some people are super receptive to this.
It's difficult to determine why. Too many factors involved.
I have found that dreams only get better with age. More experiences for the brain, more imagery to work on, more acquaintance with all forms of sensations.
This may just be one of those things that develops with time.
Oh, and I wave at you, fellow Texan! :)

maybe your just Half-Sleep-Semi-Awake State, were your body and reflexes is in Rest, but your Imaginary Projection is active.
-
Depends. For me, it was because I took the sense of touch for granted within waking life - I payed no attention to it at all. The mindset was focused on completing the task at hand rather than experiencing while it was happening. Pay attention your senses in waking life, it will show in your dreams.

It occurs to me that I also type alot. I didn't used to, say between age 15 and 25...but now that I type several thousand words a day I am a lot more tactile.
I don't know if that helps but it occurred to me while thinking about the sense of touch and experiencing sensations with my skin in dreams.

In most of my lucids, I also don't 'feel' anything. Except, when I decided to stabilize by touching. So in LD, I touched a wall and was really trying to feel it and I felt the texture and temperature and all. Try to practice doing this as an RC in daytime and see, maybe it will start happening in your lucids.
I ate in 3 lucids, but only in 2 of them I felt the taste of it.
And only once, when flying through some bushes, I felt a real sensation of branches and leaves, that were moist from moning dew, hitting me in my face.
Maybe it really is as forcees says- we walk thorugh life without really feeling things. How many times I have touched a door knob or a TV remote and never paid any attention to the sensations. Happy dreams:)
-
Ya, exactly. It also happens with me. Sometimes I feel the taste and sometimes not. It is normal.
-
Thanks, ill work on that stuff! And melanieb, how'd you know im a texan?
-
You wrote it in your profile.
-
I looked at your profile. I do that sometimes when I encounter a post by someone and I want to reply to them. Knowing who you are replying to and understanding them sometimes helps answer a question.
Not in this case, but some. ;)
I hope you find a way to enjoy sensations! I am not quite sure what makes me notice them so much...but I like to think I pay attention to my world.
Ooh, there's a Dream Yoga tutorial by Sivason that might help. It's involves awareness. Dream Yoga (Sivason)

Oh lol i should have known that well thanks! Ill have to look at the dream yoga stuff. :D

Since you have only had non-lucid dreams, couldn't it be a recall problem?
-
Maybe, but i have pretty good recall in them though. I see stuff, there are no jumps in memory, i hear and I remember very vivid feelings.
-
Well i agree with everyone being different, but i too agree with practising in dreams and doing RCs. I do Rcs most of the time, i really love feeling the wind in certain dreams of mine, but only depends on what kind of dream your in. I one day felt someone touch me and it was so extreme i woke up feeling i was sinking in my bed due to that touch. So it differs to people.
-
If it's not a recall problem, I'd recommend you to try All Day Awareness.

I experienced the same issue until I read Stephen LaBerge's Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming. In the introduction, he provides a guide to increase your everyday awareness of the waking world. Basically, pay more attention to all of your senses. Become fully aware of your environment.
Also, become aware of your thoughts, emotions, and that you, yourself, are included as a part of your environment. LaBerge also mentions that your awareness itself is something to be aware of.
Keep this knowledge in mind whenever you question and test your reality.
