Does anybody else have trouble remembering the first few dreams in a DEILD chain?
Is there anything I can do to improve LD recall without interrupting the chain to write in a DJ?

Try to go through your LDs while you transitioning into another LD, if possible. I did this last time, although I think I did it automatically, although it had crossed my mind, that I should count them and remember them. So I just replayed them in my head - well, some keywords, anyway, and kept track of how many of them I had. When I got up, I remembered the original DILD and 4 DEILDs. I knew I had 5 DEILDs and the last one came to me in a few minutes while writing down the others. The transitions were only about 5 sec long, but my mind was racing at million miles an hour and had time to do that and think of bunch of other things as well. Happy dreams:)
Hey Blandge, I have the same problem sometimes with my DEILDs.
I've had some luck with just tracing my steps backwards. Start with the most recent dream, and try to remember what happened before that, and before that and so on. As soon as I'm up for the day, I grab my journal and start writing. It helps if I include even the most ridiculous details (like if it was day or night, sunny or cloudy, what color a DC's clothes were). I find that the more detail I include, the more it sparks the memory of the earlier DEILDs in the chain. Especially since most of the time, each dream in the chain has the same theme anyway, with just some variations. Good luck!
Gabs keyword idea is also really good, I never tried it but I think I will now!
