My friend is not going into sp when he lucid dreams and is almost hurting himself.??

So I just told my friend about it and he said he wanted to try it and without explaining anything to him, he turns off the lights hops in his bed and attempts to WILD (he doesn't even know what WILDing is. After about 10 minutes he starts raising his arm up and making sound effects like he's going through the wind. He does this for 15 mins. straight and at first I thought he was faking it, but he's not that patient. He then woke up excited as hell and says he was flying and it felt really real. At this point I didn't fully believe him yet but I didn't say anything. So 30 mins. later he does it again and the same thing happens. Then later that night he does it again except this time he starts off with the flying hand thing then starts to get up and positions himself to the other end of the bed. He started resting his head on his snake cage and almost throws the top of it off. I was getting worried he would hurt himself so I got close to him and didn't want to ruin it for him unless he was really gonna do something bad. about 5 mins later he wakes up and I tell him what happened. Ok so now that I've posted that long post my question is, is this even possible? Oh, and he also described himself going into SP before he got into it without me telling him about it. So how can he feel himself go into sp then move while he's dreaming? Can this be fixed, because now he is scared to do it again. He says he has been moving while he dreamt all his life and he also has night terrors, which a doctor said it meant he goes WAY deeper into sleep then normal people which may explain how he can WILD so god damn easily... lucky bastard :?

If he is indeed preforming WILDs on command like that and so easily it could start to get dangerous. Some people have a malformation in the part of the brain that controls SP and some people don't have it at all. This can cause them to act out their dreams and potentially injure themselves/others. I'm not sure if there is any medication you can take for this but if there is then I would definitely tell him to get it through his doctor or something if he's not already on it. If there's no way to control his movements then I'm afraid there's not much you can really do and it could get very dangerous trying to lucid dream with this condition. Many people who have this condition end up with little to no furniture in their room and some even end up in a padded room. I would have him see his doctor or a neurologist/neuroscientist to try and get some help.

There's also the chance he's just pulling your leg since it's unlikely that somebody could WILD on command without even knowing what it is, let alone 3 times in a row and be able to control everything. Based on the fact that he did this for 15 minutes the first time (longer than most people's longest LD) makes me very skeptical and you should remain so. The only way to know for sure though is to put him through various tests and brain monitors which will be able to tell if he is asleep. (If you're unfamiliar with this it's a lot like what Laberge did in his studies)

'SP', as you (and the majority of people in the LD community) use the term, is not true sleep paralysis, nor does it paralyze you in any way. It's just the hallucinatory sensations you get when entering WILD. True sleep paralysis is when you're actually awake and completely unable to move whether you want to or not, something that your friend will likely never experience with his condition. Alternatively, you are technically in sleep paralysis when you fall into a WILD, but it's not what causes those sensations, it's just what causes most people (not your friend) to stop moving while they're asleep.

I think he's faking it, to WILD 3 times in a row with no prior experience, and them being that long without him knowing how to stablize seems unreal.

The only time in my life I ever "Experienced" SP was last summer long before I ever heard of Lucid Dreaming and it scared hell out if me, It went away and has never returned that I know of. That does not mean it dont happen just that I dont know about it, I can jump from sleep to awake and standing with any unfamiliar noise, But for medical reasons like Reflux and a missing lung etc I can not WILD, I use Mnemonic induction and can mostly pick and choose about when I want to LD, Perhaps the Mnemonic way would be worth a try for your friend too. Just saying.

He's not the most patient of people. If he was trying to trick me it would of been about 2 mins of the fake flying then wake up and say did you think I was doing it hahaha. But for him to sit down and do this this many times seems unreal for it to be unreal.. if you get what im saying.

Sounds like he's pranking you.
