      Locations + Dreaming

Hi everyone! I have 2 questions for people who are willing to answer. I'm new to talking about dreams so please bare with me.

      1. I have been in 4 houses, 2 of the houses produced these great and happy bright dreams without me thinking about it. It was every night. The other 2 produce dreams that are dark and burdening. And when I mean bright and dark, I mean in terms of themes, occurrences, AND looks. Is there any way I can change that in the house I am in now (where the darkness occurs)

      2. Whenever I have lucid dreams, my body always become paralyzed, what I see is pure darkness, unhappiness, and all of my fears. What does this mean and how do I change this?

      Hello and welcome to DV!

      1. Locations and dreaming don't effect me, but I'm pretty sure it can effect your dreams. If you get darker dreams in your house, this may be totally co-incidental. Because you are saying to yourself 'I get bad dreams here.' so it happens.

Of course, if there is someone in that house that you don't like, something that scares you, or a million other things (smells, the food you eat only when you are there, etc) this could all effect your dreams.

When you have lucid dreams, it can take some practice to move. The number 1 thing that makes this dark, unhappiness is YOUR OWN FEAR. You need to be more positive and think happy thoughts!

      Ooh, their breath is warm
      And they smell like sleep
And they say they take me home
      Like poppies heavy with seed
They take me deeper and deeper

      Welcome to the forum!

My answers would parallel the responses from isthisit above. Location can affect you because you make a million connections between a place and your own perceptions/feelings. Smells, lighting, people, events...all factors that could affect your dreams because they affect your waking perceptions of your location.

Fear and negative thought does seem to be the number one cause of issues with lucid dreams. Removing that fear may prove difficult but a positive attitude (a belief, if you will) that all is well in your dreams and around you can make a difference.

Did you ever see the Harry Potter movies? He had one spell, the patronum, that required your best memory to work well, and it had to be a really strong memory. Much like that you need some fairly positive feelings about lucid dreams to keep the dark thoughts and feelings at bay. Lucid dreaming isn't magic or fantasy but the comparison is valid. Keep your mind positive and things should improve.

Let us know if it works or does not. The more you share the more we can help!

      Pleasant dreams!

I can't answer your second question, but I can totally relate to your first. Whenever I visit my grandmother's house and sleep in the guest room, I always have the WORST nightmares. And this has been happening since I was a child. I actually like to take advantage of this now...

But if you would like to get rid of the darkness maybe you could try a cleansing of the area where you sleep?
