I write down the dreams in my DJ right in the moment that I wake up and if I cant remember something I close my eyes and try visualize the dreams, I read too the DJs here in DV to see if they bring some dream memories
When I typed up my dreams from notes, I always preferred doing it on this forum in my dream journal thread, either that or typed it up on Microsoft Word and then copy and paste. Only because it would give me the possibility of showing people my dreams, or when I told people about it all it took was a simple copy and paste of the URL.
One of the most important things about journalling your dreams is that you're reliving the dream in your mind whilst you recall what happened. Your thought process is the same regardless of if it's imaginary or real life, so you're temporarily grounding yourself in this dream. So if you want to get the best of out training your dream recall, focus on every aspect of the dream so your entry almost sounds like an experience from your waking life. A tip for the actual memory process is to get the ideas down earliest as possible. You don't have to write down the entire dream or type up the entire dream; you can just write down notes like I did when I was into dream journalling. When you're typing it up when looking at the notes, everything else from the dream will come pouring into your memory (like a coin dozer when you think just one coin will fall out, then about 5-6 do instead.)
I used to write down all my dreams in a dream journal.
I write as much info as I can, as soon as waking in my dream journal. Even the tiny details I write down. Later in the day, I then re-read it, and any details I missed or remembered later on, and elaborate. I do this electronically.
I also go back, and re-read old dreams from time to time, remembering them as well as I can.
My dream recall is pretty good!
I use positive thinking and auto suggestion too
I recall mine a bit differently. Instead of writing them down immediately when I wake up, I lay there first, and try to remember all the details. I try to memorize them as much as I can, and try to remember the story line and characters. I do this over and over until I have a very good and detailed vision of what I just dreamt. (Almost like reliving it.) Then I write them down in my written journal. I realized that I always forget details when I write them immediately when I wake up. This is because when I write, the writing part itself requires me to think and focus about what I'm writing at that moment, and it makes me forget all the other things about the dream. But this is just my way, don't know if anyone else does this. x) Good luck :)
Yeah, someone else suggested this, but if I lay and try to think about my dream, it starts to slip from memory! Maybe because I write a lot for a living, then writing helps me get it out? I dunno, i guess you have to find what works for you, not everyone will be the same!
Thanks, I hope these tips will help me :)
When I wake up, I remind myself to stay completely still and try and piece together what I remember. I go back through the dream until the starting point and then once I remember the full dream, I write it down.
Usually sometime during the day I'll be doing stuff, and then something will trigger a memory from a dream the night before.
I lay still when I get up and remember the main topics of my dreams. When I remember the most topics I can, I write them in the margin of my DJ, so I don't forget. Then as I'm writing I can look back at the topics so I don't forget any dreams.
Instead of saying "I will remember my dreams tonight" say " I am going to remember my dreams tonight" read somewhere your mind understands I am better.
