Forced Lucidity?
Hello!
This is something I've been experiencing as of late. Basically, what will happen is, I will be in my dream, doing whatever it is that I do, when I'll just start a conversation and then say that this a dream, and that I need to be lucid.
I'm sorry I'm bad at explaining, I'll try giving an example:
Just last night, I had a (rather awkward) lucid dream. I was in a fairly blank room. It seemed to be rather crystal-like. Anyway, I started a conversation with someone who looked like the character Gideon from Gravity Falls. Suddenly, I just backed away and started insisting to myself that it was a dream.
"It's a dream. This is a dream! Come on! Get lucid...Come on now! Come on, this is a dream and I know it!" is pretty much what I was saying.
And while I did get a good, solid lucid, I really felt like I was forcing myself to become lucid. Again, I'm sorry I can't explain well. I honestly felt a little hurt and scared, as if it were another part of me trying to, metaphorically, beat into me the fact that it was a dream.
Another case was the night before. I was at one of my versions of my friend Daisy's apartment. I was just sitting on a bar stool, talking to Daisy's dad, when I just pulled away and started saying, forcefully, that it was a dream.
It's not bad, since I'm getting lucid, but it's honestly a little scary, and not very...welcoming. Has anyone else had an experience like this or has any advice on how to make it subtler or even stop it?
Thanks, and sorry if I didn't explain anything well or repeated myself on stuff.

i have actually had a dream somewhat like that just a few nights ago. i was standing in a meadow and when i turned around there was a girl standing there. i had wanted only to have a conversation with her but instead i was standing there thinking this ia a dream am i aware? i have to be because this is a dream am i lucid yet? it ended up that all i got to ask was her name before i woke up.. i dont know how or even if its possible to stop it, so im afraid i cant help you there, but i hope it helps to know that you arent alone with this problem

You should start doing RC's thoroughly. Once you have the slightest doubt that you're not awake you will do them properly and in an instant know that you're dreaming. I think it's an awareness problem, just raise it by doing RC's and visualizations of you having doubts about your reality, what you will do next time.

All my Dild's ever started by me having a eureka moment. I didn't need a sign or anything, all of a sudden I would just realise it was a dream. I agree with matte87 doing RC's automatically helps alot.

why on earth are you thinking of this as a derogatory thing?
