not sure if there is a thread for this but it would be interesting to know peoples experiences with nightmares and bad lucid dreams.. Like something taking over in your dream, scary etc

The last lucid I had was a combination of DILD/DEILD. I managed to reenter the dream through the DEILD technique and I found myself in my room, with my boyfriend sitting next to me in bed and his kid, Gabriel, with us. He had to go get something, so I was left alone with Gabriel and started playing with him. My boyfriend came back after a few seconds and said we had to go, so I was like, "Uh, sure. Let's see what happens," but then my stupid, stupid brain thought that it'd be cool if something scary happened, so when Gabriel looked at me, he had black holes instead of eyes and his mouth was distorted. It scared the shit out of me, but I managed to stay in the dream for about 15 seconds more until I woke up.
Needless to say, I didn't even want to open my eyes then, so I just spooned behind my boyfriend and held him so tight I thought he'd wake up with bruises in the morning. :P
Ive personally never had a bad lucid dream experience, as i usually have great dream control and can destroy anything suspicious in my path. xD
Glad you asked as I was going to start a thread but this fits fine. A few nights ago I was dreaming I was in the car with my wife on a muddy road. I had to back up as water covered the road in front. I got stuck in the mud, and stopped to consider the situation and what to do.
Now let me explain... I was not lucid but this was as real as a lucid... I was 'there' if you know what I mean, not just watching/dreaming. Suddenly the car started to sink fast like in a sink hole and I saw the mud up to the tops of the window. I was so scared seriously thinking we were going to die, I immediately thought in the few seconds I had left, God I HOPE this is a lucid dream and I can wake up from this! I did not waste time doing an RC as this felt life threatening and I just tried to force a wakeup. I was SO relieved it was a dream... like a man who just escaped death.
Now, while some would hope they never have this sort of dream, I actually think it was cool... What an adrenalin rush, and sheer relief afterwards. So, I would not mind this at all...sort of like going on a scary roller coaster for the first time...a little scared but excited too.
That's really interesting.
I personally believe dreams are signs from within. Maybe it's your brain telling you to be cautious of situations like this in the future. I believe that you can learn ALOT from dreams so if you ever do get in a situation like this in real life, you are more aware of what you need to do to escape and such
People have thrown around the concept that dreams act as simulators for real life experiences. Many believed they are used to develop survival instincts. It is a very interesting topic to think about :)
Does it count if you blow up the world before the dream becomes a nightmare, as a defensive measure?
Cause I did that once when a dream was trying to go bad. But I've only been a member five days, so it won't let me post a link.
If you want, check out my dream journal for the dream named something like Gas Station and Lots of Violence.
