Well all i know is that it was really easy for me to just lay in bed completely still but keep thinking about things to keep my mind awake... My body fell asleep... and... I don't know what I did to do it, but next thing I know, I was in a LD. Although this technique was easy for me, it varies depending on the person, usually.
Some methods work better for different people. No method is easier or harder.
A lot of people suggest those new to lucid dreaming try out MILD as a beginning.
I suggest reading over all the techniques and see which one sounds good based on how you sleep and recall your dreams.

Each method listed will link you to a tutorial for that method. You can also find good info on the front page at www.dreamviews.com and on the forum here by using the Search function.
I agree with melamieb. I hate to say it but there is no sure fire technique that works for everyone effectively. However, some of the techniques that beginners find the easiest to is the DILD(Dream Induced Lucid Dream), MILD(Mantra Induced Lucid Dream), and ADA(All Day Awareness), or a combination of all 3. If you want to go that extra mile you can try the DEILD(Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream) technique to kind of "Force" yourself to have a lucid dream and get your brain used to being lucid. :) Good luck!
Melanieb gave a good link describing all the techniques. Definitely check that out. I also made this thread to help new people choose the right technique foer them. Also you should read this beginner's guide to lucid dreaming. It has some good tips. Good luck, hope that helps! If you have any more questions...please ask :)
