Aren't there any secrets for this?

Aren't there any secrets to realise you're dreaming? Because the way I try to have lucid dreams just doesn't work out lol. After 120 days of doing constant reality checks, all day awareness and all the other things for DILD, I only had 1 Lucid nightmare. I remember loads of vivid dreams every night. So if I had a lucid dream, I would know. Taking a break won't work, because I've done that already. Every night when I go to bed, I'm really motivated to have one, so a lack of motivation isn't a problem. I even asked/begged my subconscious (however you call it) to give me some lucid dreams xD. I must do something wrong I think, but I have no idea what. :shock:

Perhaps you are not a type for DILD. My advice would be to try DEILD

I wbtb almost every night, I set my alarm to go off at different times for a wbtb. I've tried deild/wild before and so far I only experienced sleep paralysis twice. I really wanna do deild but I feel 'guilty' if I don't write down all my dreams immediately. And If I wanna do deild, I still have to put my alarm off when it goes off, and I know you're not allowed to move while doing deild. :L

Well it's best to learn how to DEILD without an alarm using auto suggestion. And seeing how much potential you have, and have put into DILD already learning how to wake up without an alarm should be simple for you.

If writing down your dreams helps you remember them it is fine, but remember that there is no obligation to do so. You can LD without a dream journal.
As for the alarm, it is not necessary to use one. Everyone wakes up mulitple times per night, but we usually forget about it. By realizing that you can become aware of those awakenings and use them for DEILD. And moving after awakening makes it harder to DEILD, but it can still be done, as long as you're not too wide awake

Ok, I will try that. During the summer holidays I woke up several times during the night without an alarm. Without even wanting to. So I guess it won't be that hard for me while using auto suggestion. I'm going to try DEILD for a few months then and see how it goes, thanks! :)

Alright, I'll get over my 'urge' to write down all my dreams immediately and just go for DEILD for a while, thanks man! ;)

Well at the moment there isn't any "easy" way to do it. The big problem with lucid dreaming is to find the right technique, and how to execute it in a correct way. People on this forum can only give advice on what works for them, you really just need to find your own way into getting lucid dreams on a regular basis. But you really shouldn't give up, try to experiment on certain techniques.

But like i said, at the moment there isn't any secret way to get a lucid dream. But who knows, maybe in the future there will be. You could also try some supplements, i don't use them, but i know a lot of people that tell a lot of positive things about it. Just try to get as mutch experience as possible, even if something fails, try to think positive, like "Oh, now atleast i know that i shouldn't do it this way".

I find that this way works best for me. when you wake up after 5 hours, just say in your mind "I'm lucid dreaming". Say this 100-200 times if you need to. Then go to sleep again as fast as you can, and it should pop up in your dream. This is how i got most of my lucid dreams, although im quite lazy, so i don't really do it that mutch.

Ok don't worry my friend, some people, like myself, can take quite some time to get the ball rolling. I think it was nearly a year before my first lucid. The overall thing to focus on is to just stay calm and focused. I can spend months with no results because i'm stressed out and trying to strain all of my attention and effort on lucid dreaming. But as soon as i just calm down i start experiencing results. Stay excited and ready. Keep doing techniques and it WILL happen.

You know, we have an AutoSuggestion Thread here in Attaining Lucidity. Just sayin'


You don't need to write down your dreams to experience lucid. The effort put into recall can sometimes help you when you wake remember the details of the lucid and can also help make lucids more vivid. It can also help with the autosuggestion.

But by no means is it required.

I've always found that varying my sleep schedule, like many people vary their exercise routines, helps me with lucidity. I sometimes end up with a night of no recall beyond a fragment but then I have a night where I have a really long lucid with lots of detail.

Try something new to mix things up. Try a new supplement, or lucid aid, or something. Sometimes you just need a bit of placebo. It might even help to sleep on the couch or in a guest room one night a week. Have you had any success with WILD?

Not with WILD, I only experienced sleep paralysis twice while I was doing DEILD, I've tried WILD before though. But then I just end up laying still for 20 minutes when nothing happens, I also have troubles with swallowing while doing WILD, I tried to drink some water but that didn't help. :p

First day trying deild wasn't that bad. I woke up at 3:15 am but I moved and I immediately looked at my phone. Then I woke up somewhere in the morning without moving and my eyes were still closed but I didn't feel the SP wave after 10 minutes so I gave up. Because it isn't supposed to take that long right?
So it seems that my mantra is working because I didn't use an alarm. Apperently I fell asleep again and woke up at 10.30am and only remembered 1 vivid dream. :D
