A must see movie for everyone here. Watch and the post your thoughts
hate to break it to ya, but i'm pretty sure most people here have at least heard of it.
It is a very good movie, too bad there aren't more movies like it.
I love that movie :D Anyone interested in lucid dreaming should definitely watch it. I need to re-watch it.
Its free on the internet, just google it.
is it better than inception? cause inception really sucked in relation to true dream reality. I'm not saying inception sucked, I quite liked the movie but it wasn't really the dream movie people interested in dreams should go for.
I never quite warmed up to Waking Life, though I tried several times. Too much conceptual BS clouding an otherwise wonderful concept and series of images and scenes.
Oh, and even so it's way better than Inception, in my opinion.
No comparison with Inception. Inception is a Hollywood action gimmick, whereas Waking Life is a consciousness-exploring work of art from the Austin-based director of Slacker. Slacker revolutionized independent film.
That director being Richard Linklater, of course.
I agree that some of the conversations start to ramble a bit into BS territory. I like to think of it as a discussion. I don't agree with everything said, but at least it gets me thinking of interesting topics.
Agreed. Actually I'd like to think that it's best to expect some BS being sneaked in and take all of it with a bit of salt, so you'll still be able to appreciate the core of it.
It seems like every scene starts with a good and solid insight and from there on rambles straight into the highly speculative. It's just up to you to decide exactly how much you like to agree with.
I like how it contradicts itself.
Yes, love that movie! Everyone should watch it :)
Let me put it this way: I've watched it thrice and I'm still getting more out of it?
Oh, yeah. That's a good movie. :shadewink:
Being a newbie to the forums here, I did a search and found that many Waking Life threads had occurred here. So I'm picking up on this one. I love Waking Life! Such a fantastic movie.
One bit I often think of is the scene where Linklater is in the movie, talking to Dreamer, playing pinball, they're discussing PK Dick. Linklater tells the Dreamer to . . . just . . . wake . . . up! And he does, but doesn't.
Also, the ending has always struck me as strange, I think of it a lot. The Dreamer returns to the yard of his childhood, and this time can't help himself floating away. Has he been dead all this time? What do you guys think?
Yes, I always felt that the dreamer was dead throughout the movie, and was struggling -- lucidly-- with the transition to afterlife. But then I am a fan of sleep yoga, so I might have applied a bias to my interpretation (though I don't think so!;))
