What have been your favorite dream roles?

Lucid or Non-lucid! I personally find that dream roles are one of the most incredible and fun part of the schemas of dreams. Lots of talk goes into controling your surroundings, and turning ordinary into the extrodinary around you. But how often do you morph your own point of view into an extrodinary thing? It's fascinating to me that dreams allow us to turn ourselves into anything we want, or they just end up making us believe we are some fascinating character accomplishing a goal by the end of the night.

What brought this to mind was a dream I had last night where I played the head of the royal guard of Naboo, escorting Queen Amidala to her safe room during an assasination attempt. The Queen's character was later played by my wife (Jealous?).

Anyways! That got me thinking of all of the fascinating characters I've gotten act out and morph myself into in the past. Matter of fact, years ago the first time I came to a conclusion that I wanted to pursue lucid dreaming, was after I woke up one night after having a dream that I was stuck inside of a locked school building. I got out by breaking one of the windows and sprouted myself a pair of black wings. I loved those wings. But I want to hear about other people's experiences and creative ideas!

I'll start out by telling my personal favorite that I'll always revert back too. Whenever I become fully lucid and can manage to remember to do this, I'll turn my body into a wolf/man's. If you've seen movies like The Underworld and VanHelsing- that's similar to what I'm talking about. To me, there's nothing more liberating than to be able to run on all fours as fast as you can imagine, jumping to rooftops and traveling throw towns at night.

      Lets get some discussion going-

Hey man, I definitely agree that while lucidity is awesome, being fully conscious, yet fully immersed in the dream world is one of the most amazing, invigorating things ever. I also love turning into a werewolf! It was actually one of the first things I did-- in my very first lucid, actually. It's amazing how the mind can imagine running so fluidly on all fours like that! (not to mention the feeling of transforming...so strange!)

I had a dream a month or two back that began as me being a werewolf-- though I was still in human form, I hadn't turned yet-- and i was being chased by a bunch of villagers through the woods. It was set in the mid 1800's or so. After running wildly through the woods in the dark, I hid behind a tree...and everything turned quiet and I waited, hearing nothing but my own heavy breathing and pounding heart. Suddenly I heard someone say " Got ya!" and I was knocked unconscious. When I came to, I was in a jail cell, and I became lucid, broke through the bars, and decided that since they were expecting a werewolf, I might as well show them a werewolf. >:3 needless to say, I fucked shit up.

I also had a dream, about a year ago, that I was a Father! (I've never had a kid, and probably never will) It was incredible. I was 100% conscious (as in, I remember all my thoughts, feelings, and all the details) but I was convinced that this 10/12 year old boy was my son. We were in a small town in the middle of a giant snowfield, with icey mountains around us. A massive, end-of-the-world type snow storm blew through, and I panicked and grabbed my son, fearing for his safety.

Amidst huddling in the small shack, there was this little girl, a bit younger that the kid who I called son, who was stranded, crying and frightened in the snowstorm. I was so concerned for my sons safety that I selfishly left her out there...I felt terrible, but I did not want to risk letting go of my son, nor risk going out there myself. My son then jerked away from my arms and ran outside to grab her himself, and bring her in. i remember yelling out as he ran away, and he did so just as the rough part of the storm was reaching us.

I woke up feeling like such a coward, knowing that I was about to leave that little girl out to the storm. She surely would have died, as the storm had completely torn away half of the shack, and most of the roof. It was one of the most incredible non-lucid dreams I've ever had.

I love being an all powerful wizard in my dreams, sadly unless I am lucid when I am in a dream where there is magic I end up being the only one not able to use it, even when the my dream persona is a powerful mage

Ever since summer has started I'm having at least one non-lucid dream a night where I am powerful flying magic warrior protecting a different person or thing from a different evil force. I'm not complaining though because sometimes it's more fun than my lucids.

Wow guys, very good stories. Alucinor, I'm glad that someone else has gotten to experience similar beast dreams! How I've waited for someone to understand (Haha). And that dream about your 'son', fantastic. I've had a few similar dream, just last week I think I was talking with my wife about a dream that I had about a three year old son of mine. He was so adorable, I got terribly attatched within that short time. Dream families seem so very real, and that bit about the girl out in the cold- we've all been there. I don't doubt that you would have helped in real life, lol. It looked as if your subconscious sent the boy as a part of you to help. All around, good input- thanks.

Nakara, I noticed that your Lucid Dream Count is 11. So you appear to be fairly new. Don't worry, with practice- these symptoms will go away and you'll be "YOU SHALL NOT PASS"ing those bastards soon enough. I had such a similar problem when I began to lucid dream, and even before that I remember tons and tons of dreams about me having superpowers, magical medalions and weopons that just refused to work. It was terribly frustrating. But after a while when you get the feel of how the dream-state works, you'll be as powerful as you want to be. These restrictions come from laws of our waking life. We've lived for years on this earth being teathered to earth's fundamental laws of reality, and that can put an extreme amount of doubt into our ability in the dreaming realm. Doubt is our worst enemy when it comes to accomplishing our goals in waking life and in the dream state, but in the dream state it comes out appearing more like innadequacy. Keep trying, keep believing that you can. Maybe read some threads on dream control, or if you'd like we could open up a seperate topic on some methods of building will power in a dream. I sympathize with you, I freaking love mages. My favorite fictional character of all time is Raistlin Majere. The dark mage who attained so much power by the end of his journey that he tricked a holy cleric into opening the gate of the godly realms and overthrew it. (Only to find later that it was a mistake as the world crumbled before his eyes. I'll just stop there before the subject gets too far off topic)

And Yosma, I have a bit less to say on yours other than that sounds terrific. Fantasy battle sounds exciting. The way you described it reminded me a tiny bit of the battle scenes in the Eragon/Eldest/Bristingr/Inheritance series! If you're into that genre of literature I'd definitely suggest those books.
