Hello all, I'm new to this forum but have been lurking here for a few weeks. I've been practicing dream recall, reality checks, ADA, logging things in journals ( all the basics basically ). And last night i had a dream of myself sitting up in my bed doing a RC (plugging of the nose trying to breathe) but I couldn't remember anything after that, is this taking a step in the right direction?
Definetely, most people don't practise RC's and awareness with enough intent and therefore their brain doesn't find it important enough to store the actions. Obviously it was important enough for it to show up in your dream, well done.

Keep in mind that reality checks can be misleading. For instance, if in a Dream you try to hold your breath and you expect not to be able to breathe, then you won't. But you would have been Dreaming. Everything in the Dreamscape is controlled by you, whether intentionally or subconsciously. The most reliable way to check is to ingrain the habit of asking yourself if you are Dreaming and then try focusing on remembering how you came to be where you are. Your memory is very helpful.

So basically the fact that im having lucid themed dreams im increasing my awareness to say the least?
Just by being here you have taken a step in the right direction. Many people disregard their Dreams, or write them off as some phenomenon that just happens. The fact that you realize the potential of your Dreams is already increasing your chances of having Lucids. You are becoming more aware of who you are and what your place is in this existence. Dreams are another form of reality, one that we can control. It seems to me that a Dream about a Lucid may actually be an attempt at becoming Lucid that gets away from you, so when you wake it feels like just another Dream because you didn't become fully Lucid. I love this stuff
Yes, it is. I agree with PlanesWalker. If you don't believe you can breathe while you are doing the nose-pinch reality check, you will not be able to. That is why every time you do the nose-pinch reality check you have to actually believe you will be able to breath through it. As long as you are doing that, you should be good! I hope you get lucid soon! :)
Yes...when you do your reality check, assume you are dreaming and be surprised you cannot breathe. The time will come when you do breathe and it will really surprise you the first time at how real everything seems and you really thought you were awake!
I use the same reality check and first time I did it in a dream it was amazing to breath threw plugged nose. I got so happy and over-emotional that i ended up laying in my bed and starring to ceiling. Then you are doing reality check ask yourself a question: Am I dreaming? And plug your nose if you can't breath say that i'm not dreaming. Just be aware that you are doing a reality check. (that is a most common mistake)
