Keeping calm after LD
I just had my 72 lucid dream...and it was my best, longest one yet. I dont mean this to sound like a boast...I have been at this almost a year and do not feel like I can do it any night I want. Too many factors limit me still, so I am still a beginner or early intermediate maybe . But here is my question. I will wake up after the experience and am so pumped up, even at 4 am, and cannot go back to sleep. How CAN you after a mind-blowing experience like that? Do you really eventually get so the dopamine or adrenalin rush is less and you can sleep? Anyone else have this problem? How long does it take to not get so 'rushed'? Usually it takes me a day or so to just recover enough that I even remember dreams, as I am too tired, so LD may take almost a week between times.

While I have had nowhere near as many Lucids as yourself, I can say that your excitement may never die down. Like you said, how can it. You just experienced something that is beyond words. I can only say that while my excitement is still just as fresh for every Lucid as it was the first time, falling back asleep has become second nature. You may want to try to re enter your last Dream as a means of not only falling back asleep, but having another Lucid as well.

I remember after I had my first lucid, (after knowing what a lucid dream was lol), I woke up at like 1:00 AM, and I was so excited, it took me like 2 hours to get back to sleep...

Yes, I know the feeling! It's hard to get back to sleep after an amazing lucid dream. What helps me is to write about it right after I wake up. Get it all out of my head and onto paper. That usually gets me slightly calmed down.
Then I listen to relaxing music and think about other things so I can fall asleep. Just Google relaxation methods and try some of those. XD I hope you are able to go back to bed next time!
It does get slightly better after having many Lucids, but it still can be pretty exciting :)

Like most people said here, not everyone gets that much experience. I could not really tell how long does it take me coz I don't experience LD that often.

Thanks to all responding. Mancon, I think I will do as you suggest. I dont write it down but instead replay it in my mind over several times because I fear forgetting it by morning when I do write it. Fear of forgetting is part of not mentally letting go. My wife isnt happy about my LD 'hobby' so thats why I dont get up and write. But she sleeps deep so probably it will work. Glad I am not alone in dealing with the 'rush'
