Waking life
Have any of you seen the movie "Waking life"? if not I recommend going to your local video store and renting it, blockbuster may not have it though. It is filmed in a very interesting way, they took a normal film movie and painted over the frames, digitally or physically i duno but the effect works well with the movie.
If youve seen it no spoilers for those who havent!! its obviously about dreams as I am asking everyone in a dream forum if they have seen it but thats all im sayin
:P

hmmm.....I'm not about to go rent a movie I know nothing about. if you don't want to say anything in this thread, PM me and I may consider renting it.

hi =) ok well its a weird ass movie, the animation over the normal film allowed them some liberty to do as they pleased, so it looks like a cartoon but nothing like warnerbrothers or anime its in a class of its own... more like boogie nights i think.
So its about a guy that goes through a bunch of dreams as the movie progresses he realises more and more he is dreaming. The movie aloso goes over attaining consiousness in dreams, about the people you meet in dreams cues that you are dreaming, reality checks... I thought it was neat. :D

movie must-see
Not necessarily lucid dream related, but may hit a nerve with many of you (at least it did me):
Dark City
It's among my list of favorites :!:

hmmm....Dark City.....sounds familiar....what's that about again?

Dark City
It's about an entire city of people that are unwittingly serving as an guinea pigs in an experiment. Each day they live out their lives in the exact same routine, then are put to sleep by the technologically advanced mad scientist aliens who erase their memories and replace them with new ones. Pretty far out sci-fi, but then I love sci-fi... Jennifer Connelly, Keifer Sutherland, and some other dude whose name I can't remember is in it. The dude (protagonist) ends up learning superhuman abilities like telekinesis and others. It's a few years old.

Yeah dark city was a good flick :D

Piece of Art
Waking Life is not just a movie, it is a piece of art. It took years to make: first having the filming process, and then following that with the process of digital editing every scene independently, but in a way in which it flows. Not only that, but the subject matter is that of dreams, reality, and consciousness. It's a wonderful movie about a young man's journey through his dream states, and his eventual ralization that perhaps he isn't dreaming, perhaps there is something more to it. I do not wish to ruin the story, but I believe it should be a must see for everyone, especially those interested in their dreams and what they mean.
And just a side note:
Dark City should not even be mentioned next to a movie such as Waking Life. Dark City is science fiction, and science fiction that is not that well done. Waking Life is based on relevant information that is based in the studies of dreams, and many other things, too. There are bits of knowledge there to make nearly anyone thirst for more.
Dark City = Entertainment
Waking Life = An Experience

Jennifer Connelly, didn't she play Sarah in Labyrinth? I'm pretty sure that was her....

It was brought to my attention by a nameless soul that I may have been a bit harsh with the whole Dark City thing. I just thought that it wasn't very relevant to this topic, or even this board really, though sort of I guess. Any ways, I thought it was good movie, too, but Waking Life is wonderful. Regardless, my apologies to any whom may have felt as such.

yeah, you made me mad and I haven't seen either of these movies!
