If you haven't ever had SP in your life on a regular basis...then don't worry about it, because you never will. SP isn't something people can invoke....just focus on getting into the transition and ultimately the dream. I'm assuming you're doing a WBTB with this right?

and adding to the previous info, i would seriously advise to, when on is developing "non phisical areas" (eg. meditating) one should be serene and rested. Trying such things after a night out, with weekened mind and body. and possibly intoxicating can actually be harmfull in many ways.. the practice of the virtues is just that, the practice of the virtues, nothing else, and the rest will reveal itself..

Check out some of the WILD guides in the Wiki. They are all different, but they all work on the same basic concept of letting yourself drift off to sleep a bit, without completely losing your awareness. Keep practicing and experimenting. Eventually you will find a trick that works for you.
Most importantly, make sure your timing is right. You want to attempt this in the middle of the night, after 4 or 5 hours of sleep, when you are tired and close to some long vivid dreams.
