Am I the only one who LIKES to DJ?

For me, writing a Dream Journal is one of my favorite parts of lucidity and dreaming in general. It seems like there are a good amount of people who either see DJing as a chore or just don't do it. Do these people have the ability to remember their dreams without writing them down? I know that I personally will forget again in a couple hours or less if I don't write them down. Also, for me, writing my DJ is almost like reliving the dream, which is nice. Lastly, I find my that writing down my dreams is a very relaxing way to start the day.

Do you enjoy writing your dream journal entries? Why or why not?

I enjoy writing mine in my DJ too, it makes me feel like im back in the dream again when I think about it and express it in my dream journal. It also helps me alot with my dream recall.

I love it too. I love feeling the dream expand as your memories start to return.

I like keeping a dream journal and having a record of my dreams, lucid dreams, and successful methods, along with drawings of some of the interesting things I've seen in my dreams.

Linkzelda pays way more attention to his DJ than you do...you need to catch up. ;)


It's actually quite enjoyable, especially when you add pictures to illustrate certain events/locations.

DJ-ing is good for recall. As you write, you remember more about the dream. Learn to enjoy it

I love going back and reading all my past entries.. I don't like when I can't remember and I have to leave it blank

I love going back and reading some of my awesome dreams. And I like writing in general so I dont find it a chore or anything. Plus its probably the most helpful thing you can do to get good at lucid dreaming.

Love to read old entries, have a hard time finding motivation to write down non-lucids anymore. I usually record the lucids though but it has definitely affected my recall in a bad way. I'm down to 1-3 dreams a night no matter how much I sleep. Have had several nights with 10+ dreams and fragments, but that was when I was DJ'ing every day and raced to get to the Hall of Fame on the DJ list.

I like to DJ IRL other than online.

I write down all mine IRL as well. I am up to having about 4 dreams a night now. :) I am hoping to get it to where I can fall asleep and remember everything that happens all night. I would be always conscious. :D It would be crazy. I don't love writing them down, but I love having them written down to relive it in the future, so I make the sacrifice for future me. I keep my DJ with me at work because I normally remember things throughout the morning.

I am not overly fond of doing my dream journal. I record any lucids that stand out as interesting. I have them so often that I do not bother much of the time. One reason is the idea of waking up right away to record them seems a bother.
Last night I had a wonderful long LD, but when I partially woke up I decided not to bother writing it down, and now it is mostly lost. My recall would have improved greatly if I had even jotted down a few words. Oh well. DJs are a wonderful tool to learn how to LD, and they improve recall. With me it is just that after so long and so many, LDs do not always excite me enough. I often would rather forget a cool LD and sleep soundly, rather than get up. I know-Lazy.

I have a cool leather journal, unlined, and hand write them. I love it.! Sometimes I detect nuances, dream signs, and connections I had not made originally. I also throw in important life events going on in my families lives, just the biggies, for historic reference too.

I love to DJ, the only problem is my laziness sometimes gets to me, especially when I just woke up from an awesome dream and I'm torn between writing it down to memorialize it, or to try to continue my dream. x) But yes, DJing is awesome.

Spoiler for my personal reasons for DJing:

1. To improve dream recall. Just knowing that I write in a DJ helps my brain put more importance into remembering the dreams themselves.

2. To identify common elements and dream signs.I can use this info to adjust my technique and get better results.

3. To analyze and personally interpret my dreams. It helps me find out how my waking life influences the events in my dreams.

4. To break dry spells. Rereading my experiences – especially the lucid ones – really provides motivation. It reminds me of how awesome it felt, how amazing it was. And that helps me out during tough times.

5. For fun! Reading old dreams is really rewarding. Someone may have great recall, but if you don't write them down, they get lost over time. Imagine this: memories are thoughts. Everytime you try to remember it, some part or aspect of will change, little by little. In the end you'll end up with distorted and false memories. Keeping a DJ enables me to keep track of a completely different and magical world I go to whenever I sleep.

I'm always too lazy, and every time I regret not writing in the journal :sad2:

I love it when I recall a whole dream that I didn't in the morning, because I saw something/ someone that was in my dream

I was really pumped about it when I first signed up here. Now I'm just more like eh, I should probably do this for the recall. Recording really crazy dreams is always fun though. If I think about my dreams at all after I wake up I usually remember them regardless, though I do prefer having them recorded from an objective standpoint. Like others, I'm just lazy.

I love writing to my DJ, because I log things that would normally be forgotten. When poeple don't write in their DJs that doesn't always mean they don't like it. Some people have for some reason missed a few dreams and don't have anything to log, or they have poor recall for some periods of time and are lazy to improve it, thus missing DJ entries. For example, I caught a cold this week and for 3-4 days, I couldn't sleep properly, so I wasn't logging any of my poorly remembered blurry dreams, but this morning after a long time, I had 3 lucid dreams in a row. Back in black!

I personally love to write them, as I find reading over dreams I had perhaps 2-3 months ago motivate me to continue in my pursuit to achieve complete dream control.
They also provide a source of inspiration for dream concepts ie. things I wanted to do in the past that I didn't manage and have forgotten about, can now be attempted once more, thanks to my DJ. :)

I quite liked to do it, but I stopped. The reason is that my recall was more than sufficient, and I think DILD+DEILD can get me more lucid dreams than DILD+DJ. Also, when I wake up, I just want to jump right back into the dream without taking a break. I might give my recall a new boost by DJing soon though, switching it up a little works best for me.

I usually write my DJ in the morning, as I get random flashbacks during breakfast about my dream, which I then jot down. Like you, I also dislike waking up for too long to write a journal. :)

That is me exactly! I always think I will be able to DEILD, so that chance is worth more to me than remembering all the details from an LD.

Thats a problem though, because if you can't recall your dreams, even lucid, there's no point. Of course DEILDs give you way more time and are great, but I've missed many details by DEILDing a lot finally ending up at a 3rd lucid dream in a row, trying to recall the last lucids, INSIDE THE DREAM so not to forget them! But I think remembering my dreams is more worth, that's what it's about after all. So I think I'll stick to recalling (well I won't actually, I'll just try to log my dreams whenever I have the chance rather than not trying at all to catch a possible WILD or WBTB) until I have a decent dream recall to keep on trying new stuff. But I'll still log my dreams. As I said before, what's the point if you don't get the most of it? Including whatever happened in the dream+memories of whatever happened in the dream.

I like writing interesting dreams down and its good for recall but most of my dreams are boring so it feels like a bit of a waste of time.

I like DJing...sometimes i just forget to write in it but it helps your recall, along with your emotions, and everything else in between

I also love updating my DJ!

I started keeping it a week ago, but in that week I've had 2 LD's :D

Whether it's a vivid dream or a lucid one, writing it down is like the feeling you got watching your favourite show for the first time round, even though you already know the whole plot. I've always been a vivid dreamer though, and I still remember dreams I've had years ago because they've been so vivid. I plan on revisiting some of the crazy scenes my mind concocted in future LD's. I also have a sketch book, which I use to draw memorable scenes - take last night for example, after my lucid dream I had a vivid dream where I jumped off a bridge into the sea whilst police choppers were spiralling above. Images that can't go to waste :) Whether you're an artist or not, (I'm certainly not any more), keeping a sketch book and even sketching simple things from your memorable dreams is as enjoyable as updating your DJ :) If you have time, Try it out guys! :D

The reason why a lot of people don't like to record their dreams is because a lot of people hate writing. I, however, love writing, and enjoy dream journalling. Unfortunately, there are a lot of times when I don't have time in the morning, so I have to write it down in my first block at school and hope that I remember most of the detail. I'm pretty good at jotting down the main points of my dreams and everything right after I wake up, so I usually don't have any problems.

You're right, but my recall is quite stable without a DJ, and I find lucids much easier to recall than nonlucid dreams (when I get lucid, I always remember it in full detail). I am not saying that everyone should use DEILD instead of DJ, but in my particular case, DEILD is more productive than a DJ

I know a couple people that I told about this and I just told them how to DEILD instead of trying to DILD all the time like me. I have more LDs than them, but I try a lot harder (read more about it, think more about it, imagine more about it).

I love to record my dreams, I just don't like moving at 5 in the morning :P. If the dream was awesome or lucid then I always record it, which has taken effect on my ability to lucid dream, even DEILD is affected by recall.

I really do enjoy writing down in my dream journal, not only because it helps me remember my dreams down the road because also I am able to detect patterns within my drams. Seeing how long the time was between one significant dream about one person and the next time I had a dream about that same person or similar situation within the dream. Patterns within dreams, the time dreams take place, and any other patterns are very important to me, they are able to provide a lot of useful information that I can use along my dream journey. That is one of the main reasons why I consider writing about dreams, and a dream journal to be essential in life.

I don't really need DJ to remember dreams. I just find it funny and nice.

No, you are not the only one! I enjoy writing about an exciting dream I had. However, if it's a boring no lucid dream where I took a math test I usually do not like writing about that. So I guess it just depends on the dream. :)

I love writing in my DJ, but many times I have small fragments, am too lazy, etc.
Its always fun reading past dreams, revisiting the dream. When you write the dream in the morning, you may even remember things you thought you forgot!
I'll generally write my last couple dreams down, etc if I have a long, fun, weird, or lucid dream.

I love DJing personally. It helps me remember parts of my dream if I let my thoughts flow on paper or on screen. Plus, I still haven't identified a lot of dream signs yet, and I just met my dream guide the other night. So writing them down is going to increase my lucidity.

It's a very useful tool. And you get to show off how awesome you are in your dreams to the rest of the DV community :shadewink: ;)
