      Hi there.

I was wondering: when you feel the pain when you wake up, how long does it last? Does it go away after a few minutes. Or does it stay for a long time?

It is normal to feel pain in dreams, because our mind simulates realistic sensations including pain. When you get hurt in a dream and immediately wake up, some of that pain might still be in your memory so you will think that you are still feeling it. It works the same way as when you wake up from a very emotional dream, and when you wake up you still feel the emotion in the dream.

Another reason could also be that you're having hypnopompic hallucinations (hallucinations which happen when you start waking up). These hallucinations can manifest through any senses. You may see things, hear things, or feel things, etc. It's possible that when you wake up from a painful dream, your hypnopompic hallucinations will bear some resemblance to the dream you just had, so you hallucinate that you're feeling pain. These won't really pose any physical pain/damage, and they are all in your mind, so try not to worry about it.

It's good to know you're using your dreams to help out with your writing and explore your creativity. You mentioned incubating your dreams. Have you read this? http://www.dreamviews.com/f45/dream-...torial-130133/ That might give you some more insight to improve your practices

      Good luck.

Maybe it's a dream and if I scream, it will burst at the seams.
