More so than doing reality checks, checking on how you got places, and whether or not everything happening is logical is more important.
I had the same problem last night, in my dream i dreamed about the fact i wanted to learn lucid dreaming, when i woke up i thought.. huh why i didn't recognize it was a dream??
I think it all has to do with Awareness..
It certainly has. I told a friend about lucid dreaming the other day and she was completely hooked the moment I told hear. I told her a bit about dream journals and reality checking, and immediately next morning she came over and was like "oh my god, oh my god, you have to hear this. I was dreaming and I looked at my hands. I couldn't see how many fingers I had, but it did nothing for me". That's because she only just learned about reality checking and didn't actually start questioning her reality, therefore the mind didn't react to her seeing her fingers. She probably thought it "normal" in her dream :)Quote:

I can beat that!
I had a dream in which i was teaching the basics of lucid dreaming to a friend of mine.
The dream felt like it was 20-30 mins long, and i did many RC's while explaining the process to illustrate the concept to my friend.
Yet, i didn't become lucid. Which points to the fact that RC'ing is useless without questioning reality. ^^
I agree. It has to do with awareness. The more aware you are of your environment and yourself in waking life, the more aware you will be in the dream world. One thing I can suggest is that when you do your reality checks, put much thought into it. Do not merely plug your nose or check the clock to see if it's a dream or not. Solidify your answers. Double or triple check. When you get to a conclusion that it is not a dream, do some follow up questions. WHY is it not a dream? HOW SURE am I that this is not a dream? It's that train of thought that pushes you over the edge and into lucidity. :)
Thanks for that Paige, it will help me as well. I've been wanting to know how EXACTLY to make the most out of my reality checks, but all I've heard is "put meaning into it". That's hard to undertstand if you don't know WHAT you are putting meaning into :)
Yesterday i had my first lucid dream! And it was AMAZING!! :D i can remember the normal dream very good, I was driving in a car with some friends, and then randomly i thought, what if this was a dream? So I did a RC (The RC i use is to push my finger trough my left hand) and then when my finger started sliding into my left hand ,it felt like i was pushing my hand trough clay? I realised i was dreaming! (If i could give you a tip it is to try to do more than 15 RC a day and really thinking to yourself is this a dream? And thinking what would you do if this was a dream. ) The funny thing is, i toght i would never get a lucid dream and just when i started to give up i had one so never give up and keep on trying!!!
Check out Reece Jones on youtube. He calls them later zero lucid dreams. I find that they usually happen when your technique is working. You just need to push a little further at this point.
