Needs Help on Building a Lucid Dream Idea to Solve a Real-Life Problem

I've read online that it is possible to solve problems IRL by solving them in lucid dreams. This is exactly what I need to do, to solve my best friend's problem.

My best friend's name is Moo (nick name). He is one year older than me and is enrolled at Virginia Tech this year. About a month ago, he started to get into some funk where he could not concentrate or understand anything about his classes. Also, he couldn't seem to become happy about any situation, whether it be with girls or going to parties at college. He came home because one of his exs invited him to our school dance. When I saw how down Moo was when he came back, I knew something was wrong. After the weekend was over he couldn't bring himself to go back to college and told me that he had a major break down which made him realize how bad he was feeling.

I have several ideas on why he is so sad, but I can't be sure. Once I figured out how bad he was actually feeling, I introduced him to lucid dreaming and told him to do it with me as I was just starting back up again. Him and I constructed (on a piece of paper) a lucid dream scenario in which he walks into my room and tells me to show him the solution to his problem, which would be in my closet. The intention is that he would wake my dream figure up, and my dream figure would open the door and be completely straight with him in telling him his problem.

Moo told me he has had this lucid dream, but my dream figure wouldn't show Moo the solution which was in my closet. The problem is that I'm very close with Moo and sometimes he feels so close to me that he can't tell me things because he's afraid of what I'll think. I need help in devising a new dream which will show him his actual problem through someone else.

I'm not sure that is easy to do. I understand that you are friends and it's not easy to tell your friend something that he may not like hearing. BTW, you are a good friend, that you are trying to help.

Maybe you could tell him that you had a dream and someone told you the solution to his problem? That way he would hear you out, but it would not be coming straight from you (at least, that's how he would see it).

But being a good friend, maybe you could sit him down and tell him straight up what you feel.

Thanks for replying, all help is appreciated. I forgot to mention that I don't actually know what his problem is. This is all sort of an experiment in that I don't know exactly if he knows what the problem/solution is either. I can only hope that all the answers will come to him in his lucid dreams. Every time he tells me about a lucid dream (even if it lasts 5 secs) he's blown away by how cool it is. I've read online that people have mind blowing realizations in their lucid dreams, so I was hoping I could build a dream intention where he meets his dream guide who shows him what's really going on. Or maybe if someone else has a better idea on what should happen in the dream then a response would be much appreciated.

Ok, yeah, if you don't know what the problem is, that makes it even harder.

Many times when someone finds a genuine dream guide, DG is a representation of that persons higher self. So you can bypass looking for a dream guide and you can just ask your question out loud. You don't always get a meaningful answer though.

If you never heard your voice in your dreams, you may need to practice during day. Pretend you just got lucid and shout out your question. This worked for me.

Another thing you can do is ask for help solving your problem as you falling asleep. At those moments, when you are close to falling alseep, your mind is most receptive to suggestions. So as you lay down, keep thinkig about the problem and say out loud, that you are asking for help. Feel like you are talking to someone. Direct your question to your higher self, to the creator, universe, soul, or god, depending on your beliefs. Then just keep thinking about it and saying few time that you are asking for help untill you wall asleep. You may get a dream with the solution, which will most likely be figurative. Or you may wake up and know the solution out of the blue. Or this may not work at all.

Have you tried talking to your friend about? He may appreciate that you care.

Well we've been speaking a little off and on, but he comes back from college in a week so I plan on going headstrong into this thing. Also, last night I had a dream that him and I went into my closet and found a gun. With that gun I shot someone trying to come for us...not sure if that interferes with the plan of going into my closet for his solution, maybe it means it's not there. I'll be sure to show him this entire thread though.

A good way to solve life problems in a dream is what I call "the scary room". If you have a problem in life but can't put your foot on it, go into this room in your lucid dream and pull a lever. Know that this lever will summon all your biggest fears into the room for your inspection. Multiple things like your friends, or a homeless man could appear maybe indicating that he is scared to lose his friends or along the lines of that etc. Once the objects are there it is easier to ask a friend what they mean.
Once his fears are summoned he could banish them forever by destroying them maybe or by asking them questions.
It may not work due to the randomness of dreams, and you can never really expect a fully apparent answer from a dream but it's worth a shot.

Shooting someone may just mean, that there could be someone or an idea, that you would like to get rid of. Maybe you feel like someone is putting bad ideas in your friends head, and he is doing it himself and that's what you want to stop. It's not literal.

But I still believe, that asking your friend directly will be the best. Hope you guys solve your problem.

I haven't read any of the above in great detail. I would like to suggest talking to a doctor - this may be a mental health issue. I don't mean this to sound rude at all, but to me it sounds as though you are taking on too much yourself when the best option may be to consult a professional.

Considering the OP lives in the USA I wouldn't go to a doctor unless you really plan on getting to the root of the problem. Too often american doctors just prescribe an anti-depressant or other drug and it just isn't good enough. If you want to solve a problem you have to face it not cover it up
As gab was saying earlier maybe you should have a deep talk with him. People usually manage to spill out all their problems once you get them going.

It depends how down this person is. If they are really down then I would say it's better to consult a mental health professional than do it yourself. I'd say it may be wise to ignore most advice you get on this site that doesn't relate to LDing. There are too many armchair gurus on this site who haven't got a clue what they're talking about.

I would agree getting a therapist or pyschologist to help if he really is depressed, our help can only reach so far.

He is taking prescribed medicine and is seeing some sort of therapist already, it just doesn't seem like it's really doing anything except for making him feel even worse. Moo has to take medical leave from college until next year because he can't seem to get his mind straight. This little experiment isn't at all the only help he's recieveing, again he's taking medicine and therapy. But, I would like to create a scenario in his lucid dream world so that he can maybe obtain some answers from his higher self or subconcious. It would be great if I could sit down with him and consult these things, but our friendship isn't like others. It's hard to explain, but we sort of keep each other in check like we're each other's parents. We're so close that if it happens to be about some girl or something embarassing, he won't tell me. Also, if it's something that would upset me he wouldn't tell me. Lucid dreaming is such a unique and awesome thing to both of us, and I'd like to think it can be used to get some answers. We've spent countless hours together this past month, and if any opening up was gonna happen, it would've already happened. I don't know if he knows the answers himself, but I can guess it's somewhere in his head.
