how does going lucid effect your normal dreams/life?

ive been interested in LD for a long time now and have not become lucid because i lack effort.
this is because in the back of mind i almost dont want it, im frightened it will ruin the random adventures that i enjoy in my dreams so much. i guess im curios to wether or not you can still experience adventure/randomness in lucids.

i recently had i dream i was with my friends listing to music and i was crying with joy. the emotion felt so real it was amazing. can you have experiences like this while lucid?

Of course you will still have and enjoy your normal dreams, lucid dreaming doesnt affect in any negative way your normal dreams, actually you enjoy them more because will remember more of them when you wake up and they become much more vivid. At least that's what happened with me.

Of course you'd still experience those feelings during Lucid Dreaming. It makes the feeling more real. :'D And once you've fully lucid and have good control, you could do fun things by your own command. :3

I can still have random strange dreams, but not as much as when I was young. I have been very into LDing for 25ish years, so my control does limit me a bit. Here is an example, bad dreams. It is almost impossable for me to experience a bad dream. A bad dream is going to set off an alarm with me. A portion of my awareness is almost always observing my dreams, if a dream gets uncomfortable, it alerts me. I do not always use this to become lucid in the normal sense, but an inner eyes opens groggely and irritably to see what is wrong. I then in a semi-lucid state correct what has gone 'wrong' and then resume my passive watching.
This has become so much a part of me, that I am not sure I can have bad dreams, unless something major is going wrong in my life. However, my father died this year, and I just put down a pet, yet neither of those caused a bad dream to get through. I did have about 6 bad dreams, when I was getting seperated from my wife and divorce seemed to be looming (2.5 years ago).

I can still have some odd random crazy stuff go on in a lucid dream, but sometimes it requires me to relax, and intentionally not control things. So I don't know, maybe in the end getting too good with LDing may remove some of the normal dream experience, but I would not give up LDing. I can still have crazy dreams, but unless I choose to make a lucid out of it, my little bit of awareness thatis now ever present will probably shut it down to protect the quality of my sleep.

Not much of a sacrifice when you consider the fabulous things I get to do when I decide to get lucid!
