RC Breaking LD?
Hey guys...long story short, some guys on here recommended me to try out the DILD method (because of my really good dream recall, ~28 dream recalls per week). Anyway, I'm doing RC's throughout the day in combination with mantras. Everything is working out well, I can see the improvement. But here's where it gets weird...
I laid on my bed and started my "mantra phase". I did that until wondered off and started sleeping. After a while I became aware that I'm dreaming. I became excited but I quickly calmed and stabilized myself. I then did a "thumb through palm" RC but it didn't work. My palm acted just like it would in the real life i.e. palm didn't go through. But I knew I was dreaming, I was telling myself how this is weird, I'm 100% sure I'm dreaming but RC isn't working. I tried to imagine things, hoping that my dream will slowly start to form. This all lasted maybe 5 seconds, and then the dream started to fade away and in a matter of seconds I was gone.
What the hell? lol...And this is not the first time, this happened twice already. I become aware > do a RC > RC doesn't work > dream fades away...
Hopefully you guys can help me, because I can feel it that I'm really really close :D

An RC isn't always guaranteed to work. The most vivid dreams I've had, have also been the most realistic ones and I've had very limited, if none, dream control in them. Don't pay too much attention to the fact that you have to RC to keep on going, same as stabilizations. You should do it casually and don't think about being in a dream. Too much focus on the fact that you're dreaming and you'll start feeling your body in bed.
Rub your hands or touch the enviroment while you focus your eyesight, that usually works.

Ok, thanks for your reply...I'll try to remember this next time I become aware of dreaming.

I used to have trouble doing a RC in dream. I thought that it was concentrating on something before, but it was me just getting too excited and waking myself up.

you should do more then just one type of RC. For instance count your fingers, plug your nose (most reliable),read things twice, etc. Just use different RCs and I bet it won't happen again.

I agree with the others. When you do a reality check, expect it to work. Since dreams can be just as real as waking life, many aspects will work the same way. If the reality check really doesn't work, then don't worry about it. If you're sure it is a dream (with other signs that it is a dream), then just carry on and enjoy your lucid :)
I think that your dream may have faded away because you lost focus. Once you start thinking about other trivial things, such as why your reality check didn't work, then you shift your focus to that and lesser on the dresm itself. Another possibility is that you were just close to the end of your sleep cycle, which means waking up and losing lucidity is inevitable.
Anyway, congrats on the lucids! :)

I'll make sure to try these when I get my next LD. It's really "important" because I have very interesting dreams without wanting them, thinking about them or imagining them. And it's a shame when I become aware and slowly fade away in a matter of seconds...I'll try to link things you guys said with the stuff I read in DILD, DEILD and WBTB tutorials.
Thanks again fellas :)
