It stems largely from the Texas shooting.
The media wrongly attacked LDing as the root motive.
They claimed that the perpetrator believed he was dreaming, when in reality LDing is about DISTINGUISHING the two states of consciousness. Andthe guy clearly had a lot of issues, so you can't blame one small facet of his personality...
And what facts did the news corporations have? That he may have had lucid dreaming as a hobby. Where did they get them? from one YouTube video and his friend that clearly didn't even know what it was. I don't know if anybody else has experienced stereotypes from this exact incident, my parents were a perfect example of the typesetting and stigmatization of a people.
