Literally FALLING asleep

I decided to take a nap today because that is when i get closest to having an ld. As i was nodding off i tried that new ssild method and started letting my mind wonder and drift past random pictures and sounds. Then i focused on feelings and i got this falling sensation, like i was on a sudden-drop rollercoaster. i decided to focus on it, and it happened again, but stronger, and again, but stronger. I kept focusing but eventually fell asleep into a normal dream. What was this feeling i was experiencing and how can I use it to my LD-inducing advantage?

You were meditating, and experiencing inner feelings because you focused on them. Meditation brings you in between the conscious and unconscious stage before you start the dreaming stage. So basically you were in a trance/day dreaming stage whether eyes opened or closed.
You can used this method in a dream as well and will make you become more aware. Meditation helps with a lot of things spiritual and inner self.

I do get that falling, sinking through mattress feeling just before I enter a lucid dream. Here is more about Sensations and types of entry into WILD.

That feeling is common and that's where the "falling asleep" phrase comes from.

I also had that sinking feeling once waking up from a dream, i was actually 12 at that time.

Just stumbled on this thread... the feeling you got is a common sensation often experienced as you fall asleep. When you focus too much on it you become tense and that break you out of it. When experiencing such sensations one should stay as passive as possible, acting as a curious observer. As the sensation amplifies you can perform an RC and roll out of the bed to begin an OBE. Note that you need to be delicate with your actions otherwise you may end up fail the RC and move your physical body instead. For inexperienced dreamers they may want to allow the sensation to carry them further into the dream instead of exiting to an OBE. Take the falling sensation for example, it can often accelerate to extreme speed and plunge you right into a dream scene. From there you can just go on to begin your lucid adventure. Some people become scared or excited about these sensations (note they can come in all varieties), and that will cause them to terminate prematurely.

Do yo do anything for a dreamscape to open when you flying/falling/being dragged at high speed? For me, this is the least succesfull type of entry into lucid. I just keep flying in darkness and then it ends with nothing.

Although once I opened my eyes during high speed flight and I was flying by a galaxy. Second time when I had my sight, I was falling into a tunnel. But there is no dream when it stops. What do you do to get into a dream from the point when you are flying/falling etc.?

These days I usually just exit to an OBE as soon as I detect signs of Hypnagogia. As for what we encounter at the end of the falling, I tend to believe everyone is different, and even to ourselves the experience can vary from time to time. My own experience usually goes like this -- After some accelerated fall I plunge right into a dark abyss. I can choose to stay in there, which is very quiet and peaceful. Once I start moving about the dream scene will usually emerge in front of my eyes.

Thanks! Maybe I just need to open my eyes sooner. Last time I decided not to wait untill I'm sure I'm in a dream and rolled out. Landed on a carpet on all four. Crawled slowly to the door, being pulled back by some force, opened the door - my first ever - and walked outside. So I'll experiment with "getting out" sooner than I'm used to.

was that your first time experiencing something like that? it sounds pretty similar to the experience I had in that one thread we argued in.

Do you mean being pulled back? I get that a lot when I WILD and I exit by getting up or rolling out.

yeah only it was much more intense during my experience. it first started out like an invisible force holding me back and when I forced myself up and walk to the door the invisible force shifted from my whole body to individual points and thats where I started talking about feeling like a psychic was using telekinesis to bend and break my bones.
