      Question WBTB question...!

So last night I found myself woken 3 times, each time during quite vivid dreams (one of which I would have loved to have gone back to ) if you know what I mean. Each time I woke, I consciously thought about my dreams and made an effort to stay aware as I returned to sleep.

My question is this, is it better to stay in bed and try or would it be more beneficial to get up and wait for some time before returning back to bed...?
Any elaboration on either methods will be greatly received, I will be searching the forum for an answer, but any help or advice in the meantime would help hugely.

      Thanks,
      Nicho...!

      Edit....
On REM rebound, if your lifestyle permits, would depriving yourself of REM sleep for any period be beneficial to attaining lucidity. I don't plan on staying up for days, but if REM rebound occurs, doesn't that give you more of a chance at LDing. I feel that I am close to achieving lucidity, but just can't seem to get over the last hurdle.

For WBTB, you need to wake yourself up just enough to be more aware of falling asleep, it varies from person to person on how long one needs to stay awake for good chances for WBTB, one would be good with 10 minutes and other might require hours, and it's better to actually get up for the time between waking up and going back to bed.
Though, don't do any tasks that would make you too awake during period before WBTB, also try to minimize amount of light in this period. Also when waking up, you need to be in the REM part of REM cycle for it to work.
Here's tutorial too, if you haven't read it yet: WBTB Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views .
As for REM rebound, it indeed does increases chances of getting lucid because you will be in REM for longer period of time, as well as going straight to REM at the start of the sleep.

I think you would have better chances of going back into your dream if you stay still in bed. REM rebound would give you a better chance of becoming lucid because you have more dreams.

Staying still in the bed is DEILD though, not WBTB, those are different methods.
But just in case you would want to try it, here's tutorial: DEILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views .

Thanks for the input folks. Last night I got up out of bed and stayed up for around 20 minutes, when I returned back to bed, I had that feeling that the room was spinning, like you get when inebriated. Does that signify anything.? I tried to use it, I imagined myself spinning with it and repeated my mantra, but alas I fell into sleep unaware once again. I definitely feel as though I'm making progress though, I've woken after each dream I've had on the last two days, something which I didn't do before

Thanks for the links, I had actually read them both already, but I will of course be reading them again, likely more than once. I'll keep trying and posting in my dream journal.

Once again, any and all help will be gratefully received.

Yeah, seems like you are getting closer, the room spinning was hypnagogic imagery which happens during falling asleep, which means you were more aware during falling asleep process.
Now you could either try sticking with same time for a while and seeing if it would work out, or try increasing the amount of time of staying up to be less sleepy(but still sleepy enough to fall asleep), finding perfect time for WBTB is kinda trial and error method.
