Question on ADA (All Day Awareness)

After reading up on Sageous' guide to WILD. I stumbled across ADA which I have been doing for some time. The only problem I have is that I'm not understanding the actual reason for it. I feel like when I do it, it doesn't feel like its helping anything. When I reality check I get this feeling of 'what if I really am dreaming'? And it feels like it plays a role in lucid dreaming, but I don't get the reason behind ADA, it doesn't feel useful, it only feels like i'm asking myself questions that don't really matter and I can't think of a deeper meaning behind it. I am not too familiar with the ADA but I looked up a tutorial and I believe I understand the gist of it. Being consciously aware of your surroundings and aware of your self is something that we should work towards anyways, but it seems like it would help greatly with lucid dreams. Think about it, if you are constantly consciously thinking about every aspect of the "here and now", in a dream you will often find cues to show you that you are in a dream that you wouldn't normally see. We normally go throughout our day only noticing key things that have some sort of significance to us, and every other little detail goes unnoticed for the most part. Imagine your walking down the street (awake) and you never really pay attention to the trees that you pass. In a dream, you might be walking down that same street and the trees could be a different color than a tree would normally be. But if your mind isn't used to paying attention to the colors of the trees, than you might not notice them and continue unconsciously dreaming.

I try to do ADA here and there, but I lose being aware of everything around me. I personally don't find it helpful at all. I've seen everything I've already seen before around where I live. Nothing in my life is so out of the ordinary that I even question if I am dreaming or not. So I don't see what purpose it serves. I honestly think if I had ADHD, I'd be better at ADA. Unless my understanding of ADHD is wrong.

Well just being aware of everything versus just being aware of the things you NEED to be aware of (your path in front of you, cars on the road, tasks at your job etc) could help a lot in attaining lucidity as far as noticing more cues, as well as dream control since you will be aware of more things in your surroundings and it will be easier to control them.

The more aware you are of yourself and your surroundings in waking life, the same mindset and attitude will transpire in your dreaming life. Kind of like being lucid while you're awake, and then maintaining that lucidity once you start dreaming.
