      Restrictions in Lucid Dream

      Hi, I am Marrelito

I recently had a Lucid Dream, please bare with me this weird and frustrating dream i had.

At first i dream't normally as usually, just going with the flow of the dream (i usually fly or use teleportation during those regular dreams). After a while i suddenly noticed i had some other powers i could use, for example i stood beside a railway, on a field and i saw a train coming from far away, i waited for the train to come closer and, when it was about 50 meters from me, i waved my hand in a weird motion (kind of a wizard-magic-style-motion-to-push-objects-away thingy) and, the train just flew off the rail and ended up on a road far away that had crashed on some cars. I thought it was cool and all, then i regretted that i did what i did sooooo, i closed my eyes, it went black for a brief second and after that i opened my eyes again, the train was restored in the default state it was in, like i never threw it away and the train was now passing by me.

At that point in my dream i started to feel a little weird at what just happened so i told myself that i must be dreaming.

I was aware that when you have Lucid Dreams you could pretty much do whatever you wanted. That in mind I had to test various things, to believe that am actually dreaming and not just my mind trying to fool me. So i started off with some small stuff not to get excited to rapidly and perhaps lose my focus.

I have had that problem before, where I instantly wake up as soon as i know am dreaming. Its like my brain gets caught and says: - Hey you are not suppose to know that you are dreaming! time to automatically shut-down the dream and wake you up. (i know it seems like my mind is against me haha)

Anyway, as i said, i was going to test some stuff out first, so i started with just creating a new train beside the railway on the field where i stood, (notice that every time i do something to create or summon something i swing my hand like a wizard). After that i tried to summon a friend of mine, (we talk about dreams and stuff regularly). I went to greet him with a handshake and asked him how he was, and we talked for a little bit.

After these attempts, i now knew i had some control over my dream. I began to wrap the world that me and my friend was in, to a shape of a ball, having everything in it. Then i expanded this ball and formed a new world. This new world was a little weird, it had some weird laws, kinda like glitches you have in a video-game.

Me and my friend started to laugh at all the weird stuff that was happening. For example at one point i was swimming in the air.

After some fun in the glitchy world, i returned to the previous world, where i had been at first. (i think i teleported back to it rather then creating it again)

Now i wanted to summon a person i have had a dream about before, I thought just for fun why not try it out and see if i can see this person again, but now when am in control of my dream. Guys i was trying to summon Emma Watson! (don't judge) . When i dream't about her before, i was watching Harry potter and she saw me as a death eater... but that is another story :')

I swing my hand to try to summon Emma, but I was unsuccessful. In-front of my eyes there was a black error box that had popped up explaining to me that i can't. In a resemblance to "The person is missing" or "The person is not available" or i just couldn't open this "file". I thought this was very weird. I was like wut?

Then i tried it again, and again. I got frustrated because i thought i had control over my dream!

I was swinging my hand wildly trying to "spam" out Emma, attempting several times to summon her, but with no avail. (The black error box keeps popping up while i do this)

Now am really pissed and frustrated not thinking straight anymore. After a while I spawn myself a Machine-gun, shooting wildly around the field with anger, thinking why i can't do this! Am I not in control? and i lost all motivations to do something else, or i couldn't think straight to just see that i was not able to do this and continue with something else.

So I just told myself its time to wake up because i didn't want to dream any further and then i woke up. I was nodding to myself as an accomplishment for having my somewhat controlled Dream.

But still i was a bit confused.

Can anyone enlighten me or have a theory why this restrictions happen in a "controlled" dream?

or if you guys have any other inputs that'll be great.

      Thanks in Advance.

      Hello Marrelito,

I read your whole thread and I think I know why this is happening.

In lucid dreams, there is NO restriction. ANYTHING is possible.

That's why, It is not that you could not summon a person, it was probably that your mind was auto stopping these actions for some reasons.

In order to avoid this you must train yourself to become independent of the flow of the dream, independent of anything in the dream and convince yourself that when you say something, it happens no matter what. When you have managed to do that then no matter what signs appear you will summon the person (:

In case this does not work, there is another possibility that before trying to summon the person you were anxious or worried if it was going to work. When this happens then your brain could cause that too.

You need to convince yourself that it will work and nothing can stop it from happening so you have no anxiety.

Good luck and I hope I helped!

      Yo.
As Savsal14 said, there's no limits on what is possible to do in dream, everything is possible!
When you are doing dream control you need to believe it will happen and fully expect it to happen, dream work on our expectations so if you done it right it will work. Also when you are starting out with dream control it's better to use alternative methods instead of bruteforcing it, like for example instead of just summoning her in front you could try to expect her to come around corner or be behind you.

"it was probably that your mind was auto stopping these actions for some reasons" ... Checker666 it's funny that you mention that and I read it ... perfect timing ... cuz I had this dream last night that I was driving a car down a steep hill and stopped at the bottom, just in time to avoid a sudden drop-off.

Maybe I just need to let go and fly?

Don't worry to much about not being able to control/do everything in you first lucid dreams. Nearly everyone who lucid dream are incapable of doing everything they want at first, infact most have very little control, usually they are only capable of a few things. You seem to be above average.
For instance, when I first started lucid dreaming flying was easy for me. It was almost second nature. However, I could do very little besides fly. I'm still not sure why this was the case, it just was. After some practice and a little perserverence I was able to accomplish much more.
As for why most lucid dreamers have very little, there is no single answer. There can be a myriad of reasons why one is incapable of doing somethings while entirely capable of doing others. The most commonly cited reason is doubt. Be it conscious or subconscious doubt. The best way to overcome this doubt is through hardwork and practice. Continue trying to do something until you see progress. You should also constantly being reaffirming yourself that there is nothing you can't do until both your conscious and subconscious mind accept it as fact. After a little hardwork, you should be able to overcome your mental blocks. But be warned, this will likely be one of many mental blocks you must overcome.

My Lucid Dreaming Motto - "I have walked upon the the surface of a burning star. Observed events so infinitesimal and instantaneous that they can barely be described as having occurred at all. You... you're just a dream character. And this world's most powerful dream character poses no more threat to me than it's smartest cupcake." - Dr. Manhattan (kinda)

Thanks everyone for clearing this up for me, i was very confused why i was not able to do what was expected.

Now that i think about it, i can admit i was a bit worried before i was going to summon her. I was not quite sure if my mind would do it correctly or not, and i got a little anxious.

I can certainly say that this little doubt i had probably started it all.

Thanks again. I will work on this.
