Question need help with identyfing lucid dream vs false awakening

Actually i don't believe it was a lucid dream because the dream wasn't 100% clear so it might of been either a normal dream or a false awakening. Anyways the dream started out with me and my older and youngest brothers (21 and 7) walking home from the metro(subway station). We cut through an ally we usually take and there was a really really big snow hill. My two brothers climbed it fairly easily but i had some difficulties with it for some reason, so i looked around and noticed a path to the left of it so i took it. Once on the other side and close to getting home my older brother noticed a 4x4 pick-up heading towards us so i check it out and saw the drivers face and noticed his intent, which was pretty evil-ish. I immediately feared for my younger brothers life and picked him up and ran. There was two roads for getting home, either going straight and taking the front door or turning right then left to head in the ally and get in the back way; and thats what i did. So now I'm running with my younger brother in my arms and my older brother went straight but i wasn't worried about him because the man was chasing me. Now i finally get to my backyard and to my surprise neither the gate door or my back door was locked so i went in and shut the door quickly without locking any of them. As i enter my house i went through the kitchen and straight to my mothers room (she was the only person in the house) the man chasing us was already in my backyard with a chainsaw trying to cut the door down. I explained to my mother as quickly as possible what has happened and tried to leave as quickly as possible ( what was odd was that my back door has a very large class window in the center occupying most of the door, and it seemed like for some reason it was made of a build proof material as the man had a hard time cutting through it). Anyways, as i tried explaining to my mom what was going on, she seemed very calm and i don't remember exactly what she said but from her tone and how she was acting, it seemed she knew this was going to happen and she wasn't afraid. Me, still in panic, rushed to my front door, open it and noticed a small cube like box emitting light and was connected to something but i didn't have time to noticed to what. Everything is happening very quickly but the man is still trying to break through. Now the window starts shattering and me very nervous for our lives started yelling: "mom we have to go hes gonna get us in 10 , 9 , 8 ...." and has i counted down to 0, i woke up.

I just re-read what i wrote and the small cube like box which was emitting light might of been my ipod. I say this because i keep my ipod close to my bad (near my head) since its my alarm and when it goes off, well the ipod turns on and so does the light and well since i sleep in the basement with a fairly small window that doesn't get much light and the lights shut off, the light from my ipod is bright.

Something you should know about me. I haven't really had vivid dreams in the past and most, if not all my dreams seem real. I never know its a dream until i wake up and in those dreams I'm never in full control of the situation. Also i don't remember most of my dreams, but i try to. I'm relatively knew to all this but i have been practicing methods to lucid dream and repeating to my self phrases like : " lucid dream and remember" over and over in my head.
One more thing, I'm not entirely sure about this but i felt like i woke up for a brief second then went back to sleep, and thats when i had the dream. Weird eh.

Anyways i hope i gave enough information and i hope someone can help me figure out if this was a false awakening or just a normal dream gone bad. Any additional insight is appreciated, thank you

      Yo.
It sounds like normal dream, lucid dream is when in dream one is aware that one's dreaming, and it don't sounds like you were aware, and false awakening is normal dream that starts with one waking up and one thinking that he's really awake, often in dream copy of the place one fallen asleep at in waking life.
Also the fact that you felt that you woke up for a second means you are getting somewhat more aware of dreaming state, and it's a good thing, we all wake up for a brief period of time between REM cycles during sleep, but most of people don't feel it at all.
By the way, do you have a dream journal and do you do reality checks through the day and when waking up?
Also check out DILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views and MILD Tutorial - Lucid Dreaming - Dream Views which has more information on method/technique you are using.

hey thanks a lot i appreciate the feedback. I actually just started my dream journal today as i woke up from that dream but i haven't been doing RC because i didn't think they would actually help but the fact that you mentioned it probably means they do, so i will definitely be doing them from now on. And thanks for the links i will check them out
