Shouldn't Buddhist monks report that they lucid dream a lot?

Huh? Well, what I mean is: If one of the pillars of DILD is daily mindful awareness of your surroundings and the questioning of reality, then shouldn't Buddhist monks and other practitioners of mindfulness meditation experience higher rates of lucid dreaming that non-monks/practitioners?

You'd think, no?:? Maybe they do and nobody has thought to ask, but, as an aspiring Buddhist, I feel like I would have heard this mentioned.

They don't owe anybody any explanation. It kinda is their secret. Anybody can achieve what they can, but very few have the discipline to do it. If somebody really wants to achieve their level, they can. But you have to want it. And not for the reasons most of us do it.

Well I didn't mean to imply that Buddhist monks should be reporting anything at all, only that one would think we'd have heard of mindfulness practitioners in general doing a lot of lucid dreaming.

I am generally curious though about mindfulness/awareness for lucid dreaming purposes and how this spills over into general mental wellness for people.

You don't have to think about Buddhists to see one of the possible reasons: many people in this forum have outstanding lucid dream skills and they barely communicate/share experiences. For them, it's their experience that matters, not so much the sharing of it.

Oh, sorry then, I misunderstood. :alien:

My idea was, that if someone is not ready for this (lucid dreaming, awareness, researching your higher self through these experiences, looking for answers...) then he will not care, even if report came out that this will make your life better.

On the other hand, if someone is ready for it, he will research it and find out for himself.

Buddhists were probably the first people to actually document lucid dreaming.

I thought they did...

Could it be that LD's are simply second nature to lamas, and therefore they see no need to mention them?

Keep in mind also that there are a lot of different versions of Buddhist monks; some might simply not care about dreams.
