Half asleep then a noise is heard

So to begin quickly, I'd like to say that I am new here so I hope I'm not breaking any rules or posting in the wrong section.

Note: I was not trying to lucid dream, I was trying to sleep
Ok, so about a half hour ago, I was falling asleep, I started to drift away from conciousness but moved. So I waited again and tryed a bit later to sleep. I had not moved for about 15 minutes. I started to drift asleep into a dream, I could tell because I was hearing sounds (talking and music). I also had that feeling of half consciousness, but then I heard this scream/yodel (it echoed too) about 1 minute in and I immediately regained consciousness and noped the hell out of my soon to be dream by shaking and opening my eyes. Any tips you can give to prevent this kind of stuff and just fall into a dream/sleep peacefully?

Maybe I'm misunderstanding your post, but you just trying to sleep and not lucid dream, right?

Well, even if you not trying to lucid dream, sometimes perhaps you are still aware when your dreams start and those are the sounds you heard - the talking and music. And the scream is the same thing. You already entering dream. This is normal for those who try to keep their minds aware when trying to have a lucid dream.

If this happend just one time, I' wouldn't worry, just try and fall asleep normally.

I'm curious if there was something specific you where trying to dream about.

Yes, just trying to sleep and it was weird, I have had lucid dreams before, but not one where I felt a transition into the dream. It was like that scream just triggered me to snap out of the half dream state.

Nope not at all, It was like I knew stuff was going on a sounds were being heard but I wasn't fully conscious of the dream or real life, like a 50/50 sort of thing. The weird part is that snapped right into real-life consciousness right after the scream, like it triggered something, maybe fear?

If this a one time event, don't worry. Even though I can't understand quite well the reasons for not wanting to experience this, you can be sure that it's not easily experienced without will.

Make sure you keep a regular sleeping schedule and you'll fall asleep like a rock ^^

I am new to this stuff and not one to give advice but do like to chat about it.
I'm just confused. The only reason I say this is if you where not trying to dream then you shouldn't of been thinking about your consious state. I mean thats how I would induce dreams. If I was trying to just fall asleep I wouldn't even been thinking about myself falling asleep as to rather let it just happen.
Now if you where realizing about how you where going into a dream then I would be thinking maybe it was like having the exploding head syndrome.
I'm not sure just trying to figure it out. I wouldnt worry about that scream. I believe it is a normal thing. Read about exploding head syndrome and see if thats what happened.
