Do you teach DC's the techniques of LD?

Do you teach dream characters the techniques of LD when you are dreaming? It happens to me mostly when I'm dreaming that i'm with my brothers.
I have 2 brothers and in a dream i told them they were dreaming and they could do whatever they wanted. And there they went all happy.
In another dream, I tried to teach one of them how to fly. I could fly, but he could only jump high.
In today's dream, i showed them the mirror technique (our reflection in the mirror is different) and again the technique of flight. Always after these demonstrations, they are convinced that they are dreaming and off they go exploring. But I know they are not my brothers, they are only characters in the dream.

Instead of exploring the dream, i tend mosttly to teach them. I do not know why. Maybe because i want them to experience it too.

Do you do this in lucids? I only do this in non-lucids. Although sometimes I do tell DC we are in a dream when I'm lucid.

I once was teaching lucid dreaming to Dr.House and he asked "wouldn't it be cool if one of us was a dream character?" and I told him "I could be your dream character right now, maybe you are dreaming, just do a reality check". After saying that, I ended up feeling like stupid cause I finally understood I was dreaming. Carried out with the LD with a smile in my face ^^

Iirc, Shellcode (I'm sure you remember him) who has the habit to insist with dream characters for them to perform reality checks :lol:

I've had in the past dreams where one of my DCs knew it was a dream but I did not or one of my DCs pointing out that chances are high it was a dream. In one such dream in the past I then proceeded to try to educate my DC about lucid dreaming while I was not lucid, pretty ironic in hindsight. I have also had a debate of who the dreamer is: me or the DC with the DC stubbornly insisting that he was, and in that dream I was lucid but could not win that argument.

I ONLY do this in lucids. After all, it's when i become lucid that i want to share the experience with others. In non-lucids i don't know that i'm dreaming, so i don't tend to talk about dreams.

Ah, whereas a huge percentage of my non-lucids are about dreaming, and I don't have a clue it's a dream. That makes sense given how much of my waking life is spent thinking of dreams.

I have had some non-lucids where i was teaching some lucid dreaming techniques to someone or even a group of people, never happened in lucid dreams though. :zzz:

I once had a non lucid dream where I was discussing lucid dreaming to a group of people in front of palm trees, and it was dark and I could only see our silhouettes. I guess I was teaching them, because they acted like they've never heard such a thing.

Perhaps you were talking to your subconscious directly. Who knows? Since you both were clearly convinced. I'm convinced that it's a likely probability. :content:

It's happened to me once in a non-lucid but not whilst lucid, I don't bother usually :P

It's curious that you all do it on non-lucids. How come you don't you become lucid when you do that?
But it's understandable that you don't do it when lucid. They are not real and there's more interesting stuff to do, right? I understand that. Maybe i'm not 100% lucid when i do this. I mean, i know that i'm dreaming, that the scenario is a product of my imagination, but my brothers seem so real in my dreams that i guess it's the only element in the dream that i think it's real.
It's like i know that i'm in a dream along with them, and not with the mere image of them.
For that reason, i kinda waste my time teaching them. But it's fun, all in all. Sometimes "they" give me ideas to do stuff.

If it is fun and works for you, do not call it a waste of time. Remember it's your dreams and you get to do whatever you like in them. Also I have a problem with all those people who dismiss their DCs as not real and thus not worth treating well and thus worth punching and expected to be mindless. Think about it this way: even if the DCs are part of your mind, why would you want to be disrespectful to another part of yourself? And assuming that the subconscious is mindless, and that DCs are boring just causes them to be so, which makes for a less rich dream environment - would you rather spend the night with boring mindless DCs, or fully developed creative ones that can learn and teach you? Furthermore, I believe that our dream behaviors become ingrained in our psyche away times, forming habits for waking life. If you go about disrespecting people in dreams, it may Ot matter that they are not real, because then when you wake up you may on autopilot disrespect someone real because that's the habit you will have formed, and it might be easy to act in waking life like in dreams. Much better to respect one's DCs, and then you can form good habits, which may carry over into real life in a good way.

As for why people do not become lucid when talking of lucid dreaming in dreams: we talk of lucid dreaming in real life, so this topic does not mean it is a dream; and the dreams are full of dream signs of various kinds, and yet usually we lack sufficient awareness to become lucid. Non lucid dreams about lucid dreaming usually lack sufficient awareness to turn lucid.

And you are right. DC's are very important. I like to interact with DC's. I like to talk with them. I had very interesting conversations that helped me think about my questions in life, like meaning of life, death, astral planes, etc. It's a great way to make us question ourselves, think and find an answer.

I've done it a few times in non lucids, but the only thing I ever do in a lucid is if I'm with a friend I'll tell the person it's a dream and often the friend will have ideas on something to do.
