The Hallucinations Thread!

What interesting hallucinations have you experienced? I am referring to the ones that are hypnagogic (while falling asleep) and hypnopompic (while waking up), and not hallucinations induced by drugs or mental conditions. They can be visual, auditory, tactile, etc. :D

As for me, almost everytime before falling asleep, I would hear banging on my door, chains being dragged across the floor beside me, and a little girl whispering in my ear in my native dialect. It's pretty creepy but I've gotten used to it so it's all good. :D I have no idea why they are so consistent either. Most of the hallucinations I get while waking up are tactile, e.g. I would feel something tightening around my ankles, and also, I would smell lemons.

What about you?

That sound so frightening, i definitely wouldn't be able to handle what you hallucinate!
Fortunately for me, i don't recall hallucinating anything at all.
i am very interested in what other people post though.

I had one a long time ago when I was waking up. It was a visual hallucination. It was like my best friend at the time was sitting next to me in a chair, and then he turned towards me and started to get up, but then I woke up..fully I guess and I realized that it was just a stuffed dragon. It kind of scared me though, because he had this mean and scary look in his eyes, as if he intended to hurt me.

Mine I've only had two: One is that a weird looking clock with a red pointer that I somehow control with a fake hand and it looks a little like this:

Another one is that i'm just lying on my bed, unable to move while a girl in a... I guess yellow dress with pink-grayish hair stroking my hair and humming a lullaby.

First I was really scared, but for some reason I liked her humming and stroking my hair was rather nice. It made me sleep like a baby haha!
"Hush... now.....", then I went to sleep. It happened to me atleast 7 times now, very relaxing!

Once when attempting to WILD I got the pressure on my chest and vibrations, as well as like, I don't know, best way to say it is it was like the northern lights on the underside of my eyelids, my body also vibrated like crazy!

Just as I was falling asleep, a few nights ago, I got a vivid image of a forest.
The trees were pure white, and each branch ended in a single, large leaf.
I remember this very clearly, as the image was as clear as a photograph in front of my face.
I was actualy there for a split second.
If I had any skills as an artist, I would paint the image, and put it up on here.
( Sounds like a good idea for a dedicated thread on here )

Sometimes when i wake up, i see some small dark creature moving wherever i look, it's pretty fun and lasts from 10 seconds up to a minute or so if i don't move much. :cheeky:

Very few audio HH:

- door creaking open in the middle of my room
- someone shaking/dusting bed sheet (or a cape?)
- sound of chain saw coming closer
- people talking

Tactile:

- small squirel like creature running accross my face and licking my brain
- wind blowing in my face
- flying at warp speed over rough surface
- falling at high speed

But mostly I get beautiful visuals. I want moar.

It ranges from hearing wind blowing and that turning into a tornado to someone walking back and forth by my bed or some unnatural being trying to kill me :P Sometimes I also see a really bright light and it feels like electricity passing throughout my body.

I was in a lucid dream once and I was making up with this Asian lady who was taller than me, I woke up and I was making out with the air. :)

That's not really a hallucination.. It's more that sleep paralysis wearing off a tad early and pi carrying out the dream actions.. :P

Very amusing

Last summer I woke up in the middle of the night, I heard a alarm clock going off so I was rolling around on the bed. I rolled over to the side and started opening doors on my dresser half awake. It stopped. For some reason I thought snooze was going to go off and scare me so I half freaked out and hid under a pillow. The next morning I realized I didn't have an alarm clock.

I hear people talking every once and a while too. For example:

"I have a physical appearance." " A physical appearance?!? Are you crazy, Harry?!"

" maybe you have to travel underneath the blankets."

Holy crap your hallucinations are cool! Love the squirrel one, gab. The best thing about it is it's different for everyone and you never know what you're gonna get! :D

Before falling asleep I get a tactile hallucination of cockroaches on my neck or legs, it scares me the fuk out of my bed, every single time and it happens frequently T_T
and those small insect legs feel so so so gross

I have heard what I thought was my name being called out, a bunch of creepy voices saying "God God God" or something like that, and footsteps. There might have been more but these happened some time ago.

I've only had one WILD (and I didn't make it past the hypnogogic stage before getting too excited and waking up) but all I really saw was a fan on my ceiling. I actually thought it was my normal room, but my room doesn't have a fan. I heard some sort of creepy stuff though, like knocking on my door and unintelligible whispering in my ear. It wasn't scary at all though. Other than that, it felt like my body was a wave and I was vibrating like crazy.

Yep! My name being called out wasn't as scary as the creepy voices. The creepy voices was the scariest one. My name being called out wasn't too scary but i think it woke me up and I was all paranoid thinking who might have called my name. I was living at my dad's at the time and I asked him but he said he didn't call my name. But I've read in a book and I guess some people get this. The footsteps were less scary than the creepy voices. They startled me but that was it.

Does this sound like a hallucination to you or anyone else? What I thought seemed like thousands of dogs howling...? That one happened quite a few years ago and I'm not sure if it's because I was going mentally sick Edit: at the time or if it was a hallucination...

Once while falling into WILD I heard a man screaming in terror. It echoed and faded. Almost shit my pants. Became lucid after that though :)

Sounds like hallucinations to me :s

The scariest SP hallucination I've had is last year at some point around October.

I was lying there paralysed and these cloaked figures drift in my doorway, they ignore me and search my room going through drawers, clothes etc.

Then one of them say in a man's voice, "Hey, he's awake now" And I'd start to shit my self and get so freaked out and then one would always float towards me slowly and I'd try to move or cry out my I couldn't even shut my eyes. Then once it'd be right face to face with this black cloaked thing I'd wake up covered in cold sweat. This happened for about 2 weeks and my sleep was awful, until I managed to convince myself to have the attitude, of "Come at me bro" sort of thing. xD So then it went away thankfully. :)

please define to me what a real hallucination is and what isn't?

I had a lot of those, and never a WILD. All of my sleep paralysis hallucinations included the old hag, except one in which I was at ease and comfy, and when I opened my eyes and looked at the wall, I saw just flowers and things like that.
The other time, I fell asleep while listening to John Coltrane's Russian Lullaby and I had a very vivid 'dream' where I was a stick figure on a bicycle cycling through San Francisco.
A friend of mine saw one of his friends sitting naked at the edge of his bed and staring at him. He was in sp, though.

Sometimes, when I'm half-asleep at night, I'll hear people that I know say my name. They'll just say it in normal, calm tone, and it's actually not creepy at all. Sometimes I'll hear them saying random stuff that doesn't make much sense. Then there's the quick, several second vision of tripping or falling off my bike and I jolt awake. One time I had a several second vision of going up to a classmate to ask him something.

A couple times a week for the past year I have been having horrible insect hallucinations every time I'm waking up, or it is what wakes me up. My wall will be covered in ants or there will be a giant centipede in my bed. And recently its been turning into people, the other night hands were coming through my window. Every night is exactly the same, its extremely real when it happens, I freak out and turn the lights on then realize what it is. But yeah I hate it lol.

wow, a lot of these hallucinations sound creepy as hell...
as for my hallucination it was a quicker shift than I thought it would be
I have my eyes closed and then I start hearing random ambient noises, like nature, or people working in a construction site. It gets increasingly louder until it becomes very loud static, I hear it in both of my ears, the static turns into the song ADIDAS by Korn (I don't even like them!). As for the feeling, I feels like a rush because I'm trying not to be shaken by it, after a while everything snaps and the lights turn on by themselves and I awake in my lucid dream, the song fades away after my reality check.

If there are actual visitors to the room, and they are somehow normally hidden. Seeing them would be real
They would not be a hallucination, but would appear to be. - real hallucination

You should try the ultimate mind buzz.
Get lucid in a dream, and try to get out of your dream body by astral projecting.
Mind blowing experience to leave a body that does not exist in the first place.
Audio comes on like a jet plane in the ears.
All senses switched to overdrive.
Very much like getting high on LSD

The reason for this is, you are already half way there, when you are in a lucid dream
All the effort you put into dream control would be used to get to the lucid state
Then you can start with the same effort from the lucid state.

Can't explain what it is like. It's one of those things you just have to experience for yourself.

ive had a very similar experience, i had it when i was trying to astral project. i am curious as to what time you doing the WILD technique, before sleep of after?

Upon waking up from today's nap i saw pretty big spider-like creature crawling on the wall behind me in the reflective surface of one of drawers. Unlike most of hallucinations this one was very vivid and clear, i found it quite interesting(i like spiders :P ).

The astral projection attempt was made whilst in a lucid dream state

Well, I had quite a strange experience when I was about 15 years old. You see, there's this girl from my childhood. I'll call her Mel for the sake of the story. Whenever Mel is in my dreams these days, something is about to go very very wrong. She lulls me into a false sense of security and we talk, but then there's always a massive shock wave that feels like it's made of pure fear. Often it will break electricals in the dream and then my worst fears, my worst nightmares are awoken. I always look back and she's gone, I'm alone with what scares me the most and it's after me.

So with that in mind, I woke up one morning. I'd had a normal dream, was a normal sleep, nothing odd. But when I woke up I seemed to be in a double bed, although I never looked away from the ceiling, only taking in sideways my basic surroundings. On my left the bed to seemed to stretch and there was someone there. It was Mel and we began talking, like we were always this way. I own a single bed and I always sleep alone. Mel and me talked for a while, I don't honestly remember what about. But then...

I realized that she wasn't supposed to be there, like a sudden jolt of my memories and rationality came back. I've never slept next to Mel in my life, why and how was she there! I looked over instantly and I saw her looking at me, with her eyes. I saw her, as if she was really there. Then POOF, with that actual sound she puffed into a cloud of black smoke, hovering next my bed. Then I heard it go "Woooffff" as it rapidly accelerated, getting sucked under my bed.

I was terrified, unimaginably terrified. I jumped out my bed, fearing it was still under there, ready to attack me. I knew it couldn't be real, it just wasn't possible so I opened my sheets that covered the side of my bed quickly and it wasn't there, it was gone. I got up and dressed and made breakfast.

I totally know what you mean about the "massive shock wave that feels like it's made of pure fear", I used to get that when I had my run of freaky hallucinations last year.

I just woke up and got a Hallucination, I don't know how, probably because I didn't move and tried to recall my dream.

A voice greeted me, by saying hello and my name (also the voice was very smooth and not creepy at all lol). Shadows dancing in front of my eyes, one shadow kinda looked like a person, at first I was scared but then I remembered myself that those things are just in my head and they seemed to disappear.
I also couldn't move, so I guess I got into SP somehow, anyway I could get out of it and funnily enough it was around the time I wanted to try WBTB and I think if this Hallucination hadn't occured I would have fallen asleep again by accident, so I am happy :D Though I guess if I wouldn't have been so scared to begin with I maybe could have tried WILD.

A lot of times, literally RIGHT before I get to sleep, I will feel like I am falling straight down. A rather scary way to come back into it. :c

Overhearing garbled conversations, doors, hands, my room, faces, the sound of a train, the buzzing of a bee/wasp, music, dialup tones, heavy distortion, waves of numbness.

as i'm falling asleep i usually see shadows & i guess you can call them entities? the main one i would see was while in my childhood home i would see a woman just walking about & look at me. at first since i was a little kid it scared me so i would face the wall to avoid it but it made it worse knowing i had my back to whatever was there lol, but soon after i got used to it and ever so often i'll see her, other than that i'll sometimes catch a glimpse of a humanoid looking thing, as for sounds i usually hear people mostly women talking to me or having conversations with each other & i even heard some woman sing my name into a little song, but like i said by now i'm used to it, up to the point that i'm looking forward to sleep just to see if i can see anything else :shock:

Dial-up tones! I used to get them before too, they were quite annoying x)

During a period of time where I wasn't really trying to LD anymore, I once heard an acquaintance of mine Donnell whisper my name while I was falling asleep. It was freaky, to say the least.

I once saw a young pale woman with blue hair holding a blue rose. She was wearing long white skirt and her eye shadows were beautifully dark.
The other time I saw a pink elephant eating cookies.

I woke up on the sofa from falling asleep watching TV and hallucinated giant spiders all over the walls

When i could not fall asleep during the nap yesterday, at one point i have had pretty vivid HH(with closed eyes) of stars and galaxies for a few seconds and i occasionally heard some weird beeping sounds which were definitely not from my headphones. :zzz:

Holy :O Hallucinating stars and galaxies is pretty awesome!

I usually hallucinate voices of friends or family members in the distance yelling my names, but recently when going back to bed after a dream I get this thing where the breathing coming out of my nose is amplified by 100 times and goes from a quiet whistling to the sound of jet engines (at least that's what it feels like). This usually wakes me up and it sometimes scares me how loud it can get just in my head without actually using my physical ears.

i had a hallucination yesterday where i was the Cybernetic Ghost of Christmas past in a wild west shoot out, it was amazing.

So, are your hallucinations like dreams in that they have a story line and play out similar to a dream? That's pretty cool never heard of it though. I suppose another word for it would be day dreaming :D

lol no i don't think so, they were visions that i kept dipping in and out of, maybe i was dipping in and out of a dream but i swear i wasn't so i'm sure it was partly hallucinated lol

That's pretty cool then, you must have a nice imagination! Was it in a WILD Attempt that it happend or?

When I was a kid about 7 or 8 years old I had a dream that started off like every normal dream doing random things, but about halfway through I end up in a forest where this sorcerer or witch lady sees me and casts a spell and burns something into my mind, and for about 10 minutes I had strong hallucinations of the image and the forest even while I was fully awake and walking around. This is probably the scariest event I've ever experienced.

Last night I heard:

(Screaming) Don't worry! just because the child eaters are in this town doesn't mean they are on our street!

Do hallucinations caused by severe sleep deprivation count?

A few times during the more intense parts of some school semesters, we would have to pull all-nighters, sometimes a few in a row. I've experienced some pretty strong hallucinations as a result of having to stay up in excess of 40 hours in a row, coupled with heavy stimulant intake (Guarana, Caffeine, etc). I once had to drive home at 3 AM after finishing a project, so I could shower and take a short nap before an 11 AM exam, and presentation, and damn...the street lights were dancing, it was slightly foggy, and the little wisps of of clouds would seem to beckon at me, and seem to break through my windshield and envelop me. Furthermore, I swore that I could see animal ghosts (Foxes, Coyotes, etc) darting across the highway out of the corners of my eyes. They were not real; a reality check proved that to be the case, and they were too ghostly to exist. They were more like caricatures of said animals rendered in sparks, and flames.

Now, as for hallucinations during a state between hypnagagia and hypnopompia, I once saw this massive blue and white starburst occur in front of my eyes. It continued to burn for a few seconds, and then began to get closer and closer to me. I totally freaked out when it literally entered my very being...
I was experiencing sleep paralysis at the time, so of course, this was a particularly frightening experience. I still don't know what the heck that was about!

I've also had "microdreams", where I feel like certain events are going on around me, or certain people are present; I've even had sensations where I feel like my father is sitting at the edge of my bed, just like when he'd use to wake me up when I was in elementary school. And then I'd wake up, and realize he's not there, and get all nostalgic. I think my subconscious is trying to tell me something...

Was almost falling asleep when I arrived from work for lunch break, and someone woke me up with a text message. I look for the iphone and see a black cat made of smoke right next to my pillow. Gab, was that you?!

I dont know if this was a hallucination or a very lucid dream

i was in this Wonder land type setting walking on a grassy field it was like on a top of a moutain I try to fly with using the G force where i push the gravity
and bend it with my feet as soon as i get Airbourne a clock pops out of no where and says Fly i fall back down to where i was and i see this guy walk in a door there were lots of sound an noises going off but i can't remember what they sounded like my head was ringing i start walking for a little bit then the moutain split in two thats all i remember

I've seen a giant crab crawling across my bedroom door. I've also had voices wake me up.

When i try to wild and when the Hallucination part comes I hear wolves howling and my own voice telling me something and very very strong vibration from my head to my neck going down and up.

Woke up one morning a few days ago, and this image stayed in my field of vision for 30 seconds, or more.
Very clear, and not moving, or distorting in any way.

Never seen it before, probably just really random :P

Last night I woke up after a dream and I felt some butterflies in my stomach...Nice Hallucination! :3

I often hallucinate a baby laughing, in an evil way 0.0 Also, I often hear, "that night, I knew what real pain felt like" quite a lot. Although, I'm used to them now, so it doesn't bother me now that much.

Maybe, but I don't recall, Your Honor. Would have been nice though, projecting as a cat.

My last HH was a very gracefull cat like animal, but large, jumping of a platform. It was slow-mo, and almost like a study of muscle movement. Love my HH.

I probably get as much entertainment out if my HI as I do out just about anything else. I often see waving coral or anything I have looked at much during the day. Often it is a blue expanse of water with vivid waves. Last night I was seeing large clear images of faces and clearly heard a bell nearby.

For fun I will pay more attention tonight and report back.

That's it. At some point, you stop using your physical ears to hear and you switch to something else. But there is a distinct difference between the two sounds. You can tell, that the sound is not coming from the outside anymore, but from someplace inside. Sometimes that's how I can tell that I'm already asleep and can get up to LD/OBE.

At one point during one of my recent naps i had this feeling during the HH that i can roughly describe as "My left arm is my right arm and my right arm is my left arm". Trippy. :cheeky:

Well, I hoped to see something cool and report back, but it was pretty tame. So, I set out to remember and report back, and this is all I got:

I saw a gold background and lines started forming kind of like a cartton of a fuse burning. The line had a fuzzy texture and looked electric. They formed something like a guitar. Then I clearly felt that I was sitting fully up right in a chair, despite being asleep in bed.

Then a dream started, so that was all I got.

I had an amazingly clear image this morning.
Highly symmetrical, and not changing.
Stayed in my field of vision for at least 20 seconds.

I don't talk about this much, but when I was in high school I had a terrible case of Lyme's Disease, a disease you get from Deer Ticks.

I ran a fever of 104 for about two months, and couldn't eat anything solid because it stole my appetite. I was basically on the verge of death, because the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with me (Lyme's Disease is dangerous because it can hide from tests basically up until it finishes you off.) The last few days before they finally found out what was wrong, I began to have hallucinations of blurred figures standing around my bed, gazing down at me. At first I was frightened, but they always made me feel better and more relaxed... But then I would panic because I began to believe they were angels, or spirits, that were going to take me... Away.

Another hallucination, and these were all before I fell asleep or woke up, was when I woke up from a fevered sleep. I opened my eyes to the smell of salt air, and I found myself on a beach. My bed was there, and I was still in it, but for miles was a white sand beach and a blue ocean. It felt utterly real, and I thought it was the afterlife, which made me sob (not afraid to admit it), and when I looked back up it was my room again.

Not sure if those count, because technically it was a physical disease, but it was before and after sleep so...

I have just had one of the most stressfull days of my adult life. Yesterday, and today

Police took my vehicle, and crushed it because I was missing a bumper sticker ( L plate )
Got screwed over by insurance company, who will be keeping 70% of yearly premium for two months cover.
Also had to pay over £150.00 to have my own vehicle smashed to pieces. If no pay, I would owe an extra £40.00 per day.
Also got a fine for no bumper sticker. ( Another £ 60.00 )
Also got penalty points on licence, which means future insurance cover will double
Also directed to wrong police station to hand over documents.

As you can imagine, I went to bed last night ( 4am ) very tired, and in an almost rage like state.
Had to get up this morning after 3 hours sleep, and deal with all this.

On to the hallucination bit.

At 7am, the alarm went off, and I woke up. But no bedroom to see. I was suddenly in a room sitting at a desk.
I thought to myself, I must have fallen asleep again, but I was wide awake, and wondering how this was all possible.
This was quite disturbing, as all the room details were unchanging, and quite clear
A person suddenly appeared, sitting opposite. He was not clear to see, and seemed out of focus. No matter how I tried, he could not be seen clearly.
He asked me why I was so angry, and what had happened, but my reply seemed to be of no interest to him, and he allowed me to become fully conscious.
Very short, but very clear.

I'm surprised by all that I'm reading here, because my hypnagogic hallucinations have always only been voices. Usually they're miscellaneous voices saying unrelated things, but sometimes they'll be having a conversation or talking to me. Only once or twice were they my own voice. It's a bit different each time, I guess. When I'm really low on sleep, sometimes when I look at shadows, I'll see them curl and retract. When I look away and look back, they're normal again, and then they'll repeat the warping movements. It's kind of hard to explain.

This next part doesn't really count as hypnagogic, but at the time I thought it was fascinating:
I was sitting on the floor in the bathroom after a shower with the heater on, waiting for the warm air to dry me off and just kind of relaxing since I didn't have anything to do that day. I had a song from Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog stuck in my head. After a while, I realized that it sounded a bit like I was actually hearing the song. At first I thought I was imagining it, then I thought that someone must be watching said musical in another room, but when the song ended, I imagined some other Dr. Horrible songs, and then some songs that were unrelated, and still I heard them, but it was just on the edge of hearing, like the music was far away. Then, I realized - It was the heater! The static noise of the heater was allowing me to hallucinated whatever sounds I wanted. It was pretty fun to be able to listen to whatever song came to mind. I even tried hearing my own thought-voice through it, and that worked too. So I guess that's what it's like to hallucinate with white noise. :huh:

I was awake one moment, then in this strange room.
The dream/hallucination, or whatever it was, just ended as soon as the figure showed his lack of concern.

A bit like someone telling you they have some very important information, then when you get the info' it was not that important after all.
That is the impression I got from the figure.
He was concerned about what I had to say, but as soon as I told him what happened, that was the end of the event.
Very quick end

I did once entered WILD thanks to HH of hearing somebody entering the room and then trying really hard to wake me up, haha. :lol:

Last few days, I keep feeling someone's touch on my back. Not in HH, but in dreams. The feeling is so real, I'm thinking I'm feeling it as I would feel tactile HH. Don't really wanna think about what it is, if you know what I mean.

Do you have a pet that sleeps in same room as you ?

You guys act as if half of these hallucinations are no big deal. I'd be frieghtened to death if anyone of these happened to me.

Most of the time I'm already too far alseep to give a damn. And I just think to myself "oh, there you are".

You must understand they can't hurt you. Fill your mind with pleasant thoughts and you are likely to not have anything scary happening.

Hallucinations, in my opinion, are the second most beautiful thing about sleep (next to lucid dreaming ofc). It's one of those things where, unless you let yourself experience, you wouldn't understand the awesomeness of. At first they can all seem pretty frightening, hell, it still is sometimes. But once you understand and remind yourself it's harmless and it's wonderful, you will surely want more. :D

I like the creepy ones, while they are scary, they are something to remember and they are almost like the voices or images you see/hear in movies when they try to portray voices and images schizophrenics hear/see and others.

I remember this one time during sleep paralysis, it was the creepiest hallucination I ever had. right before I was about to fall asleep into a lucid dream, I remembered that I was in an uncomfortable position which would make the transition into the dream kinda hectic and uncomfortable so I hurried to try and get out of it but sleep paralysis had already hit before I could make it out. When I tried getting out, I yield "NO NO NO" in my head and then I was treated to what sounded like a thousand voices yelling NO in my head which echoed back and forth and got louder and louder each time. If you could imagine how they would portray a thousand voices in your mind yelling no in a movie, your simulation of that event would probably be pretty accurate to what actually happened to me because it sounded exactly how one would portray it if it where a scene in a film. I mean it had the echoes and everything.

I like this one mainly because it was exactly how a movie would portray it which added to the creep factor.

Last night I was trying out a meditation technique which is supposed to give answers to problems.
I started with a question in my mind, and kept asking the same thing over, and over.
"Why am I not happy, and what is the cause of my suffering ?"
I ask the question in a calm manner, then wait a while for an answer. If no answer comes, I just ask again.
I tried this method for only ten min's when I heard a very loud, strong voice say to me.
"I am your varacious appetite"

The answer seems to indicate that I can never be satisfied with what I have.
Then I realised, this answer applies to nearly everyone on the planet.
We all want 'things' but once they are acquired, a new want appears.
This applies to goods, money, property, relationships, in fact everything.

Looks like the buddists have it right when they say Attachment to possesions is a cause of suffering.

Once I think I imagioned hearing the devil speak into my ear.

It was scaaary... XD;

I always have auditory hallucinations of people talking. I take it as a good sign since it means that im falling asleep. Usually i cant understand what they are saying because if i try to focus on it, it will go away.
I rarely have hallucinations relating to other senses while falling asleep. Although back when i was trying out astral projection i would get vibrations,(if you can call them that, more like earthquakes). I remember the whole bed would be shaking like the house was possessed.

Now hypnopompic hallucinations happen much less often for me, but when they do they often have something to do with shapes and patterns. I remember two days ago my dad woke me up, and there were images of these huge blocks in a dark space. The blocks were dark as well with hints of deep blue, but i still knew there position and form, and they were actively fitting together; and it felt as if each movement meant something.

I like to think that this is why singing in the shower is so popular; there are hundreds of droplets falling and you can here any beat through them.

I had a hypnopompic hallucination the morning after thanksgiving, while my cousins were at our house. Basically, I had to sleep on my parent's room's floor and as I was waking up I heard my parents talking to my uncle. My mom said something like "I can't wait to eat that pumpkin pie we have!" then my dad and uncle said "but you can't eat it, remember?", to which my mom replied "oh,right, aww I was really looking forward to eating that.". I dismissed the conversation, and I opened my eyes soon after. I noticed my dad was in the room, so I asked him if He had talked to mom about pie. He said that no one had talked to anyone since they were all still asleep. It kinda weirded me out, but it was a really cool experience. :)

Auditory hypnopompic hallucination I had this morning: "Don't even think about hitting C minor." in Spongebob's voice.

Reading some of these experiences kind of makes me scared to WILD. O_o But at times when I try to WILD I feel like Im getting massaged,and it kind of creeps me out but relaxes me. And almost every time I try to WILD,I always have a feeling of falling. This happens about 3 times. I get small visions of me walking up stairs,and then tripping and falling,other hallucinations are of me walking on a block and me tripping. And I'm a basketball player,so I get hallucinations of me playing a game and someone passing me the ball,and it feels really real,I feel like I actually caught the ball in my hands.

Kids laughing I think.

A feeling of a bug with lots of legs crawling on me.

Strange people with glowing eyes. (With eyes closed)

Someone saying my name.

Others I can't think of.

I kept hearing my name being called and then I would stand up to check and I would realize it was only in my head. I've ruined so much attempts because of this or thinking I can hear a cat cry outside my window :P

two nights ago as i was trying to fall asleep; i heard a ticking sound, like that of a clock in a machine. It sounded like it was coming from right behind my bedhead(headrest?). I made note of it, and the next morning i woke up and checked to see if my bed was bugged. Thankfully it wasn't....

These happen somewhat often, but I have a few that really stand out to me. The night before last I woke up saying "a dog and a car are not the same thing" twice. I don't think this was related to my dream in any way, I just tend to say nonsensical things while I'm sleeping. The second time I woke up saying this I saw two dark heads on top of my dresser, one talking to the other, for about a minute until I realized it was really just a crumpled up grocery bag and a shirt, or some other article of clothing.

About a month or so ago I was on some bleachers watching these two kids freestyling, and someone next to me offered me popcorn. As I reached in I saw a small bright light shining through and I grabbed it, it was a phone. I leaned toward it and I was rolled over awake on my bed, holding my phone, with an appetite for popcorn.

Sometime, when I was younger, maybe in middle school, I saw a silhouetted figure with a knife held above my chest in my room. I was frozen and starred for about 30 seconds or so and it started to dissipate.

I broke my back in 2010 and was laid up in the hospital for a little while. I haden't had a cigarette for a few days and was dreaming I was about to bum one from a friend. I had my fingers to my lips, like someone smoking, and looked at my dad who I thought was the friend, and mumbled something about bumming a smoke. He didn't understand and asked "what?" as I suddenly realized I was asking my dad (who didn't know I smoked) for a cigarette.

There are many more but these are what came to mind. Maybe I'll post some more later on.

I had the most terrifying SP experience of my enter life when I was just starting out practicing LD. I was new the forum so I had lucid dreaming on my min a lot. I had already done a few WILDs before but had never been stuck in SP for more than a minute. I was going through a long lasting insomnia of about 3 days. I hadn't had more that an hour of sleep the entire time. So my brain was very tired. I finally started to fall asleep. But I soon realized it was only my body falling asleep and my mind was wide awake. But then I started feeling the sensation of someone watching me. So I turned around (now fully awake) and I saw this tall silhouette. It was like a 7ft tall shadow of a man. And my lamp was on the whole time so it would be impossible for there to be a shadow like that. It wasn't even a shadow, it was a solid black person. And I reality checked, I was awake. I reality checked multiple times, biting my tongue, plugging my nose, pinching, looking at my clock. I started talking to the shadow, hoping it was my brother playing a joke on me. But it vanished in the blink of an eye.

I havent really had much hallucinations when falling asleep except for hearing my name whispered in my ear and that only happens every so often, but when i was younger i would wake up and feel something latch onto the back of my ankle every morning. :P

I remember when I a little younger and had sleep paralysis. Pretty sure I only had 3 different occasions, all relatively the same outcome.

I was waking up on a Saturday afternoon and I couldn't move, breathe or even move my eyes, I felt cold, helpless and afraid. Then a large figure appeared in black smoke (about 6"3) he had dark pulsating blue eyes (more creepy then enchanting) come over to me and whisper something in another language and press down on my chest then disappear. Still creeps me out till this day...
Think I was about 14 when it happened.

Once I was having a fever when I was a small child.

I started seeing that my bed was out in the forest, saw my grandpa run towards me.. And from everwhere there was coming Aliens (a la James Cameron style 1986 ) from the woods.

I started screaming like crazy, mom rushed up the stairs and tried to calm me down.

It was pretty fucked up..

Cool. When I was younger and had a fever, when I wake up, I'd tend to hallucinate dancing geometric shapes right in front of me. Idk why but they were always geometric shapes, usually triangles dancing and wiggling. x)

When i woke up from one of my naps and looked at the electronic clock that i have in my room, for a few seconds it looked like three classic clocks stacked together. :lol:

i hallucinated gnats :/

It happened when I moved to a new apartment. Now and then, just as I woke inbetween dreams, I'd see a swarm of gnats above my head. It would always startle me and I'd try to swat at them. Sometimes they just disappear. Other times they fly away. Sometimes they are perched on the wall, another time they were all over my night stand. Sometimes they were just black fuzzy dots. Other times they were realistic and I thought I had a bug problem (but there was never anything in the day).

It really creeped me out, I didn't understand why suddenly I was hallucinating gnats - still don't. I've moved out of that apartment and it hasn't happened since.

Hmm, some pretty interesting replies. I wonder why the brain decides to churn out all of this bizarro stuff when it would usually be unconscious and unaware anyways..? Things that make you go hmm...

Personally, when I experience hypnagogic hallucinations its almost always in the form of audio and sometimes tactile, or a combination of the two. Just the regular stuff; hearing my name called, loud banging or buzzing, whispers, the feeling of being spaghettified or moving at high speeds, etc. I always wanted to see the pretty colors like I'm tripping on mushrooms, but I never get that lol.

I had one lately which I can clearly remember. We had the class's last big party where everyone was there and we got drunk. After that three of us decided to go to a friend's house and sleep there (he was with us). About 1-1.5 hours later we got there by walking. Til that time I smoked like 3-4 cigarets (they did more), and I'm a non smoker, maybe this had something to do with it? Also my pulse is always low. As we arrived we started listening to music. The two browsed and played them, I sat down as I was already tired.
After about the third-fourth music, as soon as it ended I started seeing things very fast, also heared weird things. Can't describe it more, I didn't see anything continuous. It lasted about 10 minutes, or 5 at least, yet when it ended they didn't even start a new song. I asked them if by the time they played any other, but they said no.
So within a second I spent about 5-10 mins... somewhere. Pretty weird, never experienced anything like this before.

Back. Been paying more attention to these auditory hallucinations lately. As previously posted, i almost always hear people talking and having different conversations, when failing a sleep. Before i could almost never recall what was being said, even as it is being said; like when your reading a book and people around you are talking but your not comprehending what they are saying.

Well lately i've been paying abit more attention, and want to relate an experience i had this week.

it was my lunch hour i decided to relax in the college library. I closed my eyes and after some time i reached that state near sleep, but didn't let myself fall asleep due to the time limit.
quite suddenly in my mind it felt as if a space had opened, like someone had drawn across one of those curtains which acts as doors. And immediately i heard a female say "OHH a library!", there was also a male presence and he didn't speak, instead he did an action which was like a cube unfolding to become flat. I felt this was a method of sensing the surroundings, strange as it was.

As i was still conscious, i said "have fun" in my mind; mostly in reply to the females enthusiasm for being in a library. Unfortunately it felt like that action of mine was to forceful and snapped me out of being close enough to sleep to hear any more. It reminds me of when im really falling asleep at night and hear these voices as background noise, and suddenly realize im hearing voices and it stops until i've become passive and unattentive again.

after waking up and having a bad dream, i saw a face with no skin and only one eye in front of my face, and that really made me scared. I thought that was real back then that's why i'm afraid of experiencing sleep paralysis until lately :)

I don't remember when, but it was in pitch black dark that i got them, after waking up, randomly in the dark, i saw that EXTREMLY huge spider making a web to reach my bed/the ground i quickly turned on the light, it dissapeared. Also that black dog, again in the dark, that was looking at me, i looked closer, he got a little bit farther and i said "Sup, bro !" and when i turned the lights on again, he dissapeared.

The other day I was pulling an all-nighter for a test and at around 4:30 am i decided to have a power nap. I closed my eyes and within a few minutes I started feeling tingling all over my body. I then heard a familiar song playing right in my ears softly, but very audible. I knew I was falling asleep and experiencing hallucinations so I tried to keep the song going by thinking of the lyrics. When I started forgetting the lyrics, the song slowly morphed into another song, but with fluctuating notes, as if someone is playing with the pitch controls. It sounded so eerie and haunting. I must've been too tired because I fell asleep a bit after that.

Last few days, when closing my eyes while watching TV, being very sleepy, I got a few very nice HH.

- view from a river on snow covered mountains rising just few feet from the shore (think Alaska or Norway)
- a beautiful weeping willow tree illuminated by afternoon golden sun

Pulled another all-nighter for a test. Somehow I knew I was gonna have hallucinations/a lucid. And i did! I slept on my side and after about 20 minutes a scaly hand tugged and pulled at my arm. I couldn't see anything but I knew i was hallucinating the arm pulling. It felt very vivid to the point where my arm started to hurt the more it pulled on my arm, as if the scales were scratching my skin. Fell asleep shortly thereafter, had a lucid. The end.

I don't know if they were tactile hallucinations, although I guess they were: A couple of days ago, I felt while falling asleep my hand was moving on its own, like turning on and off some sort of invisible switch, when I noticed it, everything stopped. It's strange cause I didn't have any control over its motion, like someone was moving it with some sort of remote control or something like that.

When I was younger I used to see lots of different things in my bedroom

The first one was a bunch of fish swimming everywhere, one of them had a dollar sign on it and it disappeared and went KA CHING!

Next I saw the hamburger helper glove crawling on my bed. I tried to scoop him up with my hand which worked, I didn't feel anything he just was on my hand. He looked like he had been hopping for hours and he was very tired.

Then I saw spoons and forks hopping around near my door. Then they hopped out the door. I followed them and no lie I saw them hopping up to the bathroom door and sliding under it. There was a plate too who was stuck halfway under the door. I tried following into the bathroom but I didn't see anything

When the light level was just right I saw multiple times small people walking over me. I picked some guy up once and he dangled from my hand in fear and I laughed pretty hard.

Is it just me or is the possibility of hallucinations increased if napping in an uncomfortable position? Like, sitting on a bench, leaning the head on one knee (with a hand in between so the hard bone doesn't hurt your head). This napping position has yielded several times pseudo-sleep paralysis (feels like SP, but can still move), auditory hallucinations, and some visual ones.

Bowser opened my door and roared at me when I was a small child.

I was sad for the next few days.

Also, I used to occasionally hear people laughing in my room. Now that I think about it, there was a pretty good reason I used to be afraid of the dark.

I'm inclined to agree. I often get the really scary ones too, if I'm in a not-so good position.

I've heard a voice whispering in my ear. Couldn't understand what was being said, but I could feel the person's breath.

When I was a kid, I woke up and it felt like there was someone sitting on my bed. Then, I felt the person getting up and walking to my parents' bedroom... it was really creepy. :eek:

Not sure if this counts, but I've felt my whole body vibrating while I saw weird shadows in my bedroom... this was after a dream where I was in my room and I was shouting "GOD, IF GHOSTS ARE REAL, LET ME SEE THEM!" so let's just say that I thought I was being possessed and that it was scary as hell.

Oh, I also used to wake up a lot to someone angrily shouting my name... would that also be considered a hallucination?

Sure, that's probably a hallucination, assuming there wasn't actually anyone there x)

Hey this is my first post on this website!
After reading most of these hallucinations they have sparked my memory from when i was a child.
I vividly remember seeing a LOT of spiders and insects crawling on me (i was about 11) then id wake up trying to brush them off and being really paranoid thinking they were actually on my bed.
I have also half awoken to have a look around my room and seeing someone, this scared the crap out of me and after second glance it was just a few things in perfect place to give a silhouette of a person!
These are my hallucination type things that i remember haha :)

I've been doing psychedelics for over 10 years pretty regularly, so I've had a few bizarre experiences.

Strange, even though I had never tried WILD or lucid dreaming, (just joined this forum and learned about LD) I can remember when i was younger hallucinating hearing my mother say my name very quickly and rashly, sounding like it was right next to my ear. I would always freak out since i was really young, and felt like the room was darker and felt like something was behind me after hearing her.

I have only had two exiting hallucinations whilst waking up. One, was i saw little dragons moving around NES style on my Television. The other, was a few anime characters were sword fighting on my wardrobe.

Oh, and also one time i thought my pillow (Leaned up against a wall) was a penguin walking around in circles.

The only hallucinations I've experienced were hypnopompic, and it was nothing special - just family members calling and shouting my name.

EDIT: Whenever I'm falling asleep, I hear music as if somebody put headphones on me.

I sleep on a bunk bed (top bunk) and I was sleeping in the middle of the day and I was beginning to awake with my eyes slowly opening and I saw a man staring directly at me. (I was sleeping on my stomach) The man began to climb onto the bunk from the side and sat on my back, he began to claw at me and I could hear the flesh tearing and the pain was only that of a slight tingling, but just enough to make me fearful. I jumped up to see it fad away.

The other day I woke up in the middle of the night. I wasn't planning on doing a WBTB but it happened anyway. I started falling asleep again and right when I was falling asleep I started having hallucinations that some demon things (i couldn't see them but i just knew) were tugging at my feet. Where they tugged, it burned soooo much and felt so contracted as if they were being squeezed tight. I was paralyzed of course, and couldn't move or speak. I didn't really panic because I managed to convince myself it was just a hallucination. The best part is that a friendly female voice started talking to me and asking me things like what dream I wanted to go into, and what I wanted to do. Amazingly, she guided me through the paralysis and hallucinations and I managed to have a WILD.

Few nights ago i woke up from a short lucid dream opened my eyes and there was lump of hair floating over my head. Kinda scary when your not excepting that but then i closed my eyes and opened them again and it was gone.

Serveral weeks ago after I woke up after a nap for LDing I closed my eyes and saw a " hologram " of a VW beetle spinning slowly before me and a few days ago a possible dream/ hallucination occured after I woke up to a huge 10 feet plus black figure a few feet from my bed.
