Abdominal muscles rapidly expanding and contracting during sleep paralysis?

Has this happened to anyone else? I've experienced various types of sleep paralysis and REM atonia before, but nothing like this. This happened in the middle of a dream. I was dreaming that I was laying on my bed, going to sleep. I must have lost awareness for a while, as next thing I knew I was bombarded with these sensations, located right around the diaphragm area. It seemed like they had been going on for a while without me being aware of it. A certain muscle right around that area was expanding and contracting at an alarming rate, probably something around 20-30 times per second, it's hard to say! Breathing was semi-painful/annoying because of it, and it was hard to relax. I didn't really try to escape it, so it's hard to say if it was sleep paralysis for sure or what. Whenever I find myself in sleep paralysis or the vibration stage of a WILD I tend to try to relax as much as possible in hopes of it leading me to a deeper dream state.

Has anyone experienced this before? During the experience I heard a voice say to me "This happens to you every night". The whole thing is weirding me out. I have no recollection of ever experiencing this before, and I've never heard of anyone else mentioning this either. The voice weirds me out too but that's a whole 'nother topic entirely!

What do you guys think?

Are you sure it was your physical body? Not something chakra related? That's where your heart chakra should be.

If this was just once, I wouldn't worry. And who knows, maybe it happens other times too, but we don't notice, because we are asleep?

It's possible you have a strained muscle in that area that was spasming. 20 - 30 times per second sounds pretty insane, but since you were dreaming at the time you might have imagined it being a lot faster than it really was. Heh - or maybe somebody was messing with you, tapping gently on your chest - maybe your cat or dog was doing it? Pretty hard to say.

Hahah yeah I'm not too worried about it, I know nothings wrong or anything like that. I just wanted to get to the bottom of it! I'm sure since that voice told me I go through this every night, it must just be a normal thing our bodies do when going to sleep. Why I never noticed it before during the countless other SP episodes, I don't know.

About it being my physical body, I was in a dream when it happened so I was referring to my dream body. But for a sensation to be that strong and unstoppable leads me to believe my actual physical body was going through this at the same time, and my dream body was just reflecting this and just going through it in it's own way. I've had SP happen during dreams before, but nothing like this! It was completely involuntary. All I could do was wait it out, but right after it stopped I was able to get my dream body off the bed and explore for the dreamscape for a while.

I'm not too familiar with chakras, but I just looked them up and it was located more towards the solar chakra, or just below it. So it could be related to that, I'm really not sure. I'm just surprised no ones ever heard of this! It can't just be me! Hahah I'm started to think maybe I'm half alien or something!

I can't recall ever having muscle spasms that translated into a dream but I've definitely noticed that when you get relaxed in bed is when spasms are most likely to occur. And I have had spasms of the diaphragm - it feels really weird! Not quite 20 - 30 times a second, but maybe 2 or 3.

Also, I wouldn't put too much stock in what a voice said in your dream. The voices tell us things that sound profound or that we assume must be true, but then we also get random voices saying random nonsense when we're on the verge of WILDing or of SP.

What do you guys think these voices are then? Our subconscious? Spirit guides? A higher power? I refuse to believe it's all just random nonsense, well most of the time at least. Often times voices or DCs will reveal information to me that was otherwise unknown to me, such as me going through these contractions every night. Just makes you think, ya know?
